He’s still our best midfielder.
Same as Iorfa is our best defender.

Bannan is a better footballer than both of them and has a far better fitness record.

Why have we been on a downward spiral with Bannan being a constant?

Just have a think.
Do you reckon it might be because we have replaced Forestieri, Hooper, Lee, Wallace, Joao & Fletcher with Kachunga, Harris, Joey & Paterson?

Bannan has a good fitness record with out doubt he is just not effective and clueless positionally.

He has been a liability playing left back alongside Reach in recent matches as players waltz by him, he does not track well. He doesn't have the capacityof dragging us up like Mooy, Cairney and Shelvey did for their teams.

I notice when he cocked up in in midfield Saturday  when the player attempted to go around Westwood no one blamed him as usual.

Again mixing up technical ability with overall performance

Yet you are picking 2 players who can't play as our best players!

So they carried Bannan?

Why did he play every game for 2 seasons when we finished top 6? More than any other midfielder? They complimented his attributes as he did theirs.

I’d prefer him to go.

On balance he’s been a great player, still easily good enough to be influential in League One.

However, I’m sick of seeing us play in a way that’s inevitable and predictable if he’s in the team.

His insistence on dropping deeper and managers accepting that despite him being more effective higher up is also an issue.

Then there is also the feeling I can’t shake that we desperately need a clean slate even if that means letting a couple of half decent players go.

And, maybe he’s saleable, dependant on his wage.

Because he played out wide. His insistence on playing in the centre is all about his ego. We can’t carry him in centre midfield

He picks the team does he?

So are you conceding he is a good player and can be effective in a winning team if used effectively?

David Hirst scored over 100 goals despite his injuries. Are you comparing him to Massimo Luongo?

Depends entirely on the type of team Moore wants to put together.

In a mobile and fast attacking game with players picking up the ball in space then Bannan may well be a success if he wants to stay.

A hoofing game with a target man then he may as well leave IMO.

If used out wide he can be effective, but as a central midfielder he is not very good or effective, hence our downward spiral.
