SiJ
I figured it was just us in the top two divisions with a crappy pitch this season, but it seems to be a problem with nearly every team. What's happened then? Have clubs furloughed ground staff? Has it been an exceptionally harsh winter?
marconi
We’ve been spoiled. Pitches are not that bad compared to the past. Picture of our semi win at Villa Park 1966. 3
alanharper
The Leeds pitch is the worst I've seen in the PL for a long time, and it's not even been played on for 3 weeks before today. Looks like they've let the rhinos train on it. I don't mean Leeds Rhinos, literally some rhinos.
kirksandallowl
All their grounds men have obviously had a bust up with the chairmen about lack of investment in the pitch and stormed out meaning they only have the YTS lads looking after the pitches. Picture of our semi win at Villa Park 1966. I watched West Ham v QPR on Big Match Revisited. The pitch was a bog but Dave Thomas was dancing around opponents like a ballerina. How good would he have been on the pristine pitches available now? 1
SiJ
Fulham pitch looks cut up a bit too. There were clips from Blackburn earlier and that's as bad as ours. I'm wondering if teams have reduced ground staff or reduced their hours or something? Pretty much every side in the Prem and Champ has these desso pitches nowadays. It does seem strange that so many are cutting up badly, thought that was why clubs spent so much on Desso style pitches. Could it be that they had to play on them in the summer and then only had a relatively small break before football started again when they would normally have longer to work on them in the good weather months?
