Chansiri

You can't possibly badmouth chansiri for holding out for the BBC money.  Let's be right, the BBC extort money legally and then pay the likes of lineker fxckxng obscene amounts while at the same time expanding their extortion ring to include little old ladies who can barely manage on what they have.  I do sympathise with anyone who this effected in terms of listening to games (I was amongst them) but giving into the BBC would have lead down a slippery slope and I'm proud our chairman stood up to the thieving conkers.

How many other clubs took his route?

None, which is exactly my point about being proud. I didn't neg you back because I accept that everyone has their opinion.

My own aren't derived from the pretentious pc left wing comments of an organisation who's accounts and means of finance would reveal it to be anything but pc or left wing.

People love second guessing everything on here. The whole Bruce situation happened less than a month ago. He may have had this holiday planned months, his kids probably looking forward to it too. His family should always be his priority.

Who's to say he still isn't working as well, he'll have a phone. I'm sure he made sure contingiency plans were in place.

You would hope so wouldn't you , seeing as he is the owner of the football club !

Do you ever think that the second guessing comes from no one knowing what is going on.

it was only 7 months ago that he announced we were up for sale - what happened with that - are we still or not - it was never clarified.

we know bullen is managing us on Saturday but don’t know if that’s because he’s getting the job or not?

that would be a good one to start - “bullen will take the team whilst the club looks for a new appointment”- that would remove one bit of uncertainty straight away.

i don’t dislike the bloke personally but

high ticket prices

appointment of lukuhay

putting club up for sale

turnaround of advisory staff  / executives

the seeming inability to commercialise normal revenue streams - boxes / advertising / kits / sponsorship

necessity to sell the ground to recover from poor management of expenditure.

........All means I don’t rate him as a chairman/owner.

Maybe you should take more notice of the Profit and sustainability rules then you would understand why he has to increase revenue streams.

Hound the guy out and we will all be losers

You have spent £639 for a ST. No amount of playing with words will change the fact that we are where we are in terms of the pricing structures in this division.

There are cheaper season tickets in other areas of the stadium

You haven't paid for a ticket for the Barnsley game. Your ticket is for the whole season.

For which the Barnsley game is included.

I agree that our matchday prices are too high. However, they have been too high for many years. Before Chansiri we were far from the cheapest in the division and yet we literally never spent a penny on a transfer fee and weren't attracting players with wages either. We had a bottom 6 budget for many seasons in which we have been at this level since 2000. At least he has tried to invest in the team, the facilities and rebuilding the almost non-existent academy.

He has never hidden the fact that building a high base of season ticket holders has been his intention and he has achieved better numbers than all of his predecessors in the past 20 years. In his 4 seasons with us he has funded a team capable of a top 6 finish twice and a further top half finish. How many times had we managed that at this level in the 15 seasons before him since PL relegation?

Well I'm the opposite. Sometimes being a stand out means you're wrong. I'm not sure how much if anything Chansiri screwed out of the BBC but it was a misguided battle. And if you think an organisation that is rolling over to tickle the Tories' tummies is left wing then we'll agree to differ on that too. All opinion of course.

No-one is hounding him out. He owns the place lock stock and barrel. We can't hound him out even if we wanted to. He's hardly getting the Ashley treatment. Just good advice.

You've misunderstood me.  The rhetoric that comes from the BBC is always left wing.  My point was that the organisation is hypocritical based on its means of funding and yes it's support for the organisation that enables it to continue fleecing little old ladies

Yes it's a matter of trying to drive up season tickets by effectively driving away POTG fans.  It's a strategy I happen not to agree with.

What rhetoric? Chansiri's stand was pretty shabby I thought.  I can see why people like him after all the poo we've had over the last 20 odd years. But there are some fundamental things I just can't go along with. Roll on Saturday.

So you think the significant increase in season ticket holders has come from completely new fans or do you think his drive has persuaded a fair few POTG fans to become season ticket holders?

So when the BBC drives up prices it's ok but when chansiri effectively does the same it's wrong.  Make up your mind pal.  You can have a different perspective on different actions but when it's the same thing it makes you look like...well I'm too polite to say.

I have no idea. A mix I guess. He's made a business decision - ST good. POTG - not so good. Other clubs have chosen different pricing strategies.

The BBC don't set the licence fee. The Government does. In real terms the TV licence fee has gone down since the 80s. If football had done the same you'd be paying less than a tenner a week to get into Hillsborough.
