overlandandsea
Surely if it's a song about the 'Mind the gap' season we should alter the last line to the date of promotion, which would be the 12th (?) Of May. Mind the gap mind the gap said United Mind the gap mimd the gap they say Mind the gap mimd the gap said United Laughing at them since the 12th (?) of May 5th

Miffed
Sorry to pee on your chips but yoonited never said mind the gap they were saying 5 points infront and two games in hand Wednesday said it after we closed the gap and the rest is history They definitely did say that. And "the derby they could afford to lose" And "you have the attendances, we'll have promotion"(they ended up with neither)

Pompeyowl
Had to edit it correctly. As it was us that was saying mind the gap not them. No it wasn't. It was them. That's what made 'mind the gap' so funny.
Cersei
They don't say it now either so 'they say' is inaccurate. Boxing Day is muddying the waters a bit. No one seems capable of a good final line either.

wednesdaywizard
Thank you. My suggestion then: Mind the gap mind the gap said United Mind the gap mind the gap they say Mind the gap mind the gap said United Laughing at them since the 5th of May This works. The syllables and syntagmatics are correct. Edit: Alternatively change the last line to "laughing at them all since boxing day" Edited August 10, 2015 by wednesdaywizard
FlyingOwl
This works. The syllables and syntagmatics are correct. Edit: Alternatively change the last line to "laughing at them all since boxing day" You're ruining my song. In any case, Ecclesall Owl is gonna get it going at Ipswich so really its up to him what the lyrics are. CS5swfc
Prefer Boxing Day, makes the laughing seem long term! Which I feel is a true reflection of Sheffield football throughout the 20th & 21st century.
