too good to go down?

Recommended Posts

surely with the players we have we are better than a lot of sides in this league but history says that nobody is too good to go down, just ask ron atkinson.

jones says we have been bossing games but thats only true of the last couple of games. earlier in the season we were playing decent but the signs were there.

has he lost the dressing room by splitting up a winning team.? i think maybe he has.

Did you watch us in the 89 - 90 season?

On the 25th of October, only 2 months into the season, i would say its impossible to say who is not good enough to go up, and who is too good to go down, their are over 90 points to play for yet, the table come christmas will probably look much different than it does now for alot of clubs, and the season dosen't even end untill FIVE months after that.

Maybe not that much different.

As of 26th October last season two of top four teams at the time were promoted and two of the bottom four were relegated.

Make of that what you will.

I take it you didn;t go last night, or maybe even v Leeds for that matter, we were good enough to be the best side in Both games, true we do need some wins, but poo poo ??, dont think so

1 point from those 2 games would suggest otherwise

It would suggest we lost one and drew one, it suggest nothing to anyone as to how we performed, any conclusion or suggestion as to how we played can only be reached by watching the games.

I saw the Leeds game and thought we should have comfortably had the points in the bag by ht.

Didn't go last night but listened to the commentary and feed back on here.

One ugly win would set us up but at the moment I can't see where that's coming from .

Hope I'm wrong but fear a long hard season unless things change very quickly

The players prove that they can perform, the match at Leeds they absolutely dominated, all we need is a bit of luck on our side.

Despite Leeds taking 14points form the last 18 available, we have been absolute pants, some of the worst football I've seen them play.

I agree, you did dominate a crap Leeds' team, the problem is you couldn't finish us off, that would be my worry.

Clearly.

But in addition, it's also about mentality. Some teams get sucked in because they think things are bound to change, some players think - i'll leave it to someone else. Some players think they are too good and the opposition aren't.

A lack of urgency and a complete lack of fight, no personal responsibility. Looking to games ahead and dismissing games close by thinking they will pick up easy points at some point.

Before you know it, the rot has set in and you are adrift. Very hard to gain momentum or belief then.

I am very surprised at the lack of urgency coming out of the Club and on the pitch.

Sleepwalking IMO.

A long season now - another relegation wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

With respect Reading, i do not think there is a lack of urgency on the Pitch, some of the approach play yesterday, and indeed last friday was fast direct and had an air of urgency about it, in fact sometimes it was a little too hurried and urgent, i still stick by my view thats its that little bit of quality, and luck we require, time will tell.

MM is going to dig deep and come up with some "sovs" to buy a right good striker. I wonder what would have happened if we had agreed terms with Michael Owen and he came here - surely he is wasted sat on the bench at Stoke. He was close to signing you know ...it wasn't rumours.

Be interesting to see the happy clappers views if we lost the next 2, which i predict a defeat at Ipswich and a draw against posh. After the palace game I said in a thread I couldnt see where our next win was coming from, and got shot down to bits from some on here, well I havnt been wrong so far. We need to wise up the squad hasn't been good enough all season, apart from the first half against Brum, against Leeds and the Fulham game we have hardly been impressive.
