Owls in the snow, 1967

Recommended Posts

I would say that’s Wilf Smith facing the camera, number 5 Vic Mobley, number 4 Sam Ellis? Number 3 deffo Don Megson, number 6 more than likely Gerry Young? Number 8 is probably Johnny Fantham? There’s a coach there too, one of the macanearneys?

what do others think

And, we finished 19th that season. Pigs were 2 points behind and went down.

We'd started well but tanked in 1968

A different photo from the same game. Manager Alan Brown (wearing tie) giving a team talk.

Don’t think it’s Alan Brown.

Smith wasnt  named schmidt. He was born wolfgang smith to a sheffield  soldier called smith   who was  stationed over  there and german woman and when they came back thought it prudent to change his name to wilf  .

Top in late October. When was the next time we reached the peak? Was it 1996 with Ritchie Humphreys et al?
