Born Wednesday 7th September 1960. The same day we played Man City away and drew 1-1

My kids bought me the programme for my 50th and apparantly we played in White shirts and blue knickers

Reading through it was a report on Citys previous match where one player was described as being "our N****r in the woodpile!!!*

Try putting that into your match report these days

I went to that game v Italy U21

Wednesday won it 2-0 and I remember Johnny Fantham scoring (the 2nd goal, I think) in front of the kop

Now here's a question for someone else - and I'll bet the answer is on the back of that there programme ...

The Italian side had a young centre half who went on to become a regular international

Can't quite get my head around it

Best I come up with is Cucurullo, but I know I'm getting mixed up with the guitar player

That's it!

Cuccureddu

Not Warren Cucurullo and not a centre half either, looking at that team sheet

But I recall watching him star for Italy on tv a few years later - well there we have it

Believe it or not, that's a name that's bugged me for about 30 years

Many thanks

your memory is spot on about him being a defender. must use similar number system to ours this season.

It'd be the '78 World Cup I'm on about

The commentator at the time described his rugged appearance by saying "he shaves with a blowlamp"

Funny how I can remember that but forget his name!
