Ronnie Starling
The Sheffield Wednesday head coach, Carlos CarvalhalInvites you, one and all, to the carnivalCome and help fulfill the dreamBy getting behind his brand new teamThere's lots of optimism now, down at Sheffield sixWith the hope that his and our dreams he can fixChansiri's money seems to be well spentAnd the fans for the most part seem contentThere's a different feeling now around the placePeople walking about with a smile on their faceGone now is the countenance of a constant frownThey're now looking up instead of downEverybody seems to be walking tallWe have now got players who look good on the ballPlayers with courage, grit and skillPlayers whith a liking to entertain and thrillPlayers on the bench with notable namesWho can come on as a sub and change a gameOf course there are those who'll pour cold water on anything newAnd I often ask myself whether they are really "True Blue"I'll be quite honest,at the outset and with good reasonI thought that "The Wednesday" would struggle this seasonAll those new players in the sideAn unheard of head coach in Britain, yet untried"Who's Carvalhal and what's wrong with Stuart Gray? And how will a committee improve the way that we play? How could all of these players gel togetherAnd how would the foreign players cope with our cold weatherMaybe the management has lost leave of its sensesGoing to extremes of all these extra expensesIt goes against all that we dour Yorkshire folk have been taughtSpending lots of money will it just amount to naught!!!But for a club that, a short time ago, looked to be on its way outWe've developed into an outfit that appears to have plenty of cloutWhere once we were viewed with scorn and derisionWe could probably, now, turn out two teams that would do well in this divisionSo! though it's early days, let's hope we can keep on the right trackAnd in the words of the song ,hope, ......................................................" SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY ARE ON THEIR WAY BACK!!!" P.S. To the powers that be,Now that we've got a team of which we can be proudI think it's time we attempted to encourage a bigger crowdThis is something all true Wednesdayites have long since been yearningBut in these austere times, money's not a commodity that holes in pockets has been burningLike all true supporters they realise at the end of the dayMoney taken at the turnstiles will never pay the waySo when they are faced with the ever rising costMore and more supporters to the game are lostThey're referred to as the 12th man and when they're on full songThere can be no denying they can really help the team alongWhy not try dropping entry prices? with more fans we might then realizeWith all the extra backing we might then achieve the ultimate prizeOK I'll admit my submission leaves reason for doubtBut with enough extra fans in, costs might then cancel each other outThere are no guarantees in football but extra fans could give us a liftThus helping us to achieve the "Premiership" giftAnd then with even higher attendancesYou could then, if you chose, write off all your expensesSo what do you think of my suggestion, is it pie in the sky? You'll never know till you give it a try!!!
