FlyingOwl
Started seasons well to get into the managers plans. Ended seasons well when he needed a new contract. Plenty of ability. Hid way to often though. We move on though. Best of luck to him.
geriatricowl
Not as bad as made out to be on here. He is inconsistent but that goes for a few of our players. Good luck Giles. Absolutely agree, remember how he played against Leicester at home last season, MOM display that game.
FreshOwl
I'm struggling to think of anytime Coke had any real influence on any game he's been involved in Will happily be proved wrong Better yet name me 10 games where he played really well I can literally only think of Hartlepool away 2010/2011, we won 5-0? Haven't recall spotting any other glimpses of talent in 5 years Name me a time he surged through the middle with the ball and layed one off

Scored vs Dagenham, Brighton, Hartlepool and someone in the cup (Notts County?) And Hull away he was very good the other season. Can't think of any other games. Which is poor considering how long he's been here.

It's an absolute joke he's been at the club 5 years when you consider it
SiJ
He's a terrible player. Having 7 good games in your entire career does not make you good, or mean that you potentially could be good.

FreshOwl
You won't have gone to the game at home against Leicester last season then ? You mean SG's first game, which teams under debut managers are known to win Not discounting he might have played well, but cmon, a hatful of decent games in 5 years doesn't warrant new contracts

Pity some players just cannot do it consistently

Think you are in a minority with your views, most on here agree Giles Coke has lots of ability, is capable of being a very good player but lacks consistency. We are all entitled to our opinions though.

Guest TommyTank
Gilse Coke nearly retired because of knee injuries I believe, maybe thats why he doesn't always turn up.

Markowski77
He is a poor championship player who has had a handful of good games in a 5 year spell. I think he is due a good game every now and then. It's not like he is some youngster with ability he is approaching his 30's and very inconsistent at championship level, out of his depth. League 1 he will do a job/mk dons will probs sign him
Past Member
He's nowhere near as bad as you're making out He'd be off with the likes of Chris Lines (who everyone was adamant was twice the player of Coke) if he was that bad. In beholders dream Lines is setting up Potter for a winner in the champions league final at camp nou.

Inspector Lestrade
Wouldn't surprise me if he is just the first of a long list, who will be leaving the club in the next few months. Always thought he was a decent player just couldn't, produce his best enough.
jonesy87shef
I was just going to write something similar to freshowl, been here 5 years and I can't think of 10 good performances. That's shocking and says all you need to know about him as a footballer. He's not inconsistent, he's just not good enough. Anybody who play professional football is capable of having a couple of good games a season. If the rest are poor or below average it tells you they aren't good enough.
