DJMortimer
New manager's invariably rip the guts out of their team and start again. It's rarely this quick though. And yes, I think it must be an ego thing.

SWFC_Liam
For me he's trying to bed the new players in far too quickly, the team that started against Birmingham seemed to have a good balance of last season's players and some new quality additions. Today we never looked like getting back into the game at both 0-1 and 1-2 down, last season under both GM and DJ I was always confident of Wednesday overturning a deposit. Really couldn't say the same today. Think we should play this in the game at Southampton on Tuesday and if it works try it at Wolves. GK- Kirkland RB- Lee CB- Llera CB- Taylor LB- Reda/Mattock RM- Antonio CM- Barkley CM- Semedo LM- JJ ST- O'Grady ST- Bothroyd (Think he'll profit alongside O'Grady)
swfc-dan
We do seem to have gone from the wednesday we loved (battlers, gave everything and seemed to love the club), to players we had in the bad old days of players on the decline or too young currently to have much of an effect. It's vital we get the Reda's, Semedo's, Buxton's back in the team. They are the heart of the club, and we consistently great last season. Our lineup against Birmingham: This is what we need to get back to. 01 Kirkland 02 Buxton 03 R Johnson 19 Beevers 32 Llera 06 Semedo 07 Antonio (Maguire - 90' ) 11 J Johnson 16 McCabe 12 O'Grady (Pecnik - 81' ) 15 Rodri Edited September 22, 2012 by swfc-dan
theowlsman
What I don't get is when I say exactly the same thing a week earlier, I get negged, but you get plussed. When I said over 10 days ago that some of DJ's signings appear to be mistakes, I got negged, but now people are agreeing. Some people change their minds like women. As for calling for the manager's head as some have, it's not on. Let him try to sort out the mess he's created first, and let Milan make decisions that may or may not be in the club's best interest. He'll know if a change is needed based not only on results and performances, but also on his discussions with the manager when he's asked to explain how we've gone from a strong, organised, and confident outfit, to looking like a relegation outfit. TBH Simon I haven't called for his head at all in fact I am simply saying the way he is going around this cull of Megson's team is too quick and has thrown away all the inherent confidence that a promotion brings to a squad. if DJ thought it had to be done to match MM's ambitions it was done at the wrong time to ask this many players to gel is a big ask, this slide is the inevitable result. I honestly thought we had another potential Big Ron type manager but this gutting of the previous squad that 'fought to the last second' is a mistake that he stubbornly seems prepared to stick his chin out and ride through . I havent seen anyone else actually asking for his head either and if they did they want a reality check. I am absolutely certain it will not be idiots on fans' forums that get DJ the sack but his stubborness, apparent poor choice and timing of upgrades to the squad against MM's time line ambition. Guest Nejc_Penik
Last season we had a winning mentality for a reason. The only improvement has bee, Lee, Kirkland and obviously the fans favourite...Me.
Guest kiltonowl
DJ has bought too many players and doesnt know his best team.... The camraderie that was there last year has been blow apart by too many new players. A solid defence has been dismantled, I know Baath wasnt our player but we probably could've had him back, Jones suggested he wasnt the type of player (young, talented and good reader of the game) hence signing Taylor a few days later.....?? Madines been getting slagged off left right and centre but strikers thrive on confidence, i think he has a lot of potential but we're not going to see it if he's a but part player behind a spanish lad who will NOT be with us next year. I feel sorry for Maguire and worry about what effect he will have on the team morale, he's renowned for being a nightmare when not playing. I would like to see us get the old guard back for five games, regardless of how they play lets see where they are in five games. Bywater, Buxton, Reda, Llera, (one from the other CB's!??), Antonio, JJ, Semedo, Lines, Madine and COG
BobsMagicCalculator
Its the danger that many teams slip into, borrowing too many players and looking for the side that looks good on paper rather than the one that clicks. Sheff Utd are an example of this. Although these guys are undoubtedly decent players, the likes of Rob Jones, Lowe, Batth have all gone. Madine and COG on a limb. Semedo and Reda in and out of the side. The players and fans had grown a bond which I think has been underestimated. This new team seems aloof and it reminds me of the previous season at this level. To be fair to DJ, I was really excited with these signings but part of me did wonder if we needed such a radical change. The likes of McCabe looks a good investment but time will tell if we have shot ourselves in the foot. Hopefully these guys will gel and we can kick on, but I think we need to give the guys who got us here a proper chance. They have it all to prove. senwar
This 'fighting spirit' people are now referring to. Where was it against Exeter? Stevenage? Chesterfield? Wednesday were very poor post Christmas and the blades game aside, we looked like rabbits in headlights at times. The Exeter debacle, where the players were brought home by train and megson sat alone. Team spirit then? No. I'm not getting at megson as he did a good job. But as people are looking at things with short memories IMO.
