Roll along Sheffield Wednesday, roll along.

Put the ball in the net, where it belongs.

Oh there will be commotion, when we get promotion,

so roll along Sheffield Wednesday, roll along.

Is this sung to a recognisable tune? I love the older songs. Pure optimism and encouragement.

We're Wednesday we're barmy we're off our f*cking head!

Love this because it reminds me of the 1990 / 91 season.... Wednesday fans in 3 stands at Ipswich the first game of the season and packing out away games after that, hearing it being belted out on the terraced Kop at Hillsborough in a season where Wednesday fans just seemed to have fun every single game. On the bus down to Wembley and lifting the cup. Just sums up Wednesday fans to me.

Always thought that it would sound good being sung back and forward between 2 sides of the Kop at Hillsborough. Just imagine one half standing up arms aloft and belting it out, sitting down again while the other side reciprocates. Would sound even better between the Kop and the North.

My Grandad used to sing...

Play up Wednesday boys

United play like toys

With a little bit of luck we will win the FA cup

So play up Wednesday boys.

From the 1940's I think.....kept them smiling through the blitz.

There is also one from the 1950's that my mum sings it's to the tune of Rudolf the red nosed reindeer and is about Derek Dooley being drafted in from the cold and causing a goal storm. I can't remember the words though and will have to ask her.
