ccswfc
grant :7: solid not much to do but made one good save best keeper in league buxton :6: solid never sets the world alight but does a job purse :8: best defensive display beevers :7: good defensivly would be 8 if he dint poo poo himself everytime he got the ball and smashing out of play spurr :7: much improved kept there right winger very quiet gray :7: worked hard and still has the quality on the ball still valuable player potter :9: tremendous kept the ball superbly incisive 1 touch passes and silky skills and even the occasional crunching tackle had a real hunger and desire MOM Joc :7: good display worked extremely hard gave potter the freedom to play soares :6: just doesnt do it for me looks to be carrying to much weight but occasional some good glimpses tudgay :8: deserved his two goals and i still dont understand how he wins all the headers for not the tallest person clarke :6: caused occasional problems but he cant finish for poo poo
Lincowl
Grant: 7 : Had the one good save when needed Buxton: 7.5 : Very solid display and good going forward. Put in some decent crosses. Purse : 6.5 : Looking much fitter, quicker and stronger now but still has a habit of making dangerous errors. Beevers : 6.5 : Started poorly I thought but got much better as the game went on. Spurr: 6 : Looks a weak link. Soares : 6 : Not a great wide outlet, lacking fitness as he is. Looked better bursting through the centre. Struggled in the air. Potter : 8.5 : Best I've seen him since the Cardiff game last season. Keep it up now, please. O'Connor : 7 : Good battling display Gray : 6.5 : He's good on the ball but seems sluggish off it. Clarke : 8 : Full of energy, the problems started when he was replaced. Forms a very decent partnership with Tudgay. Tudgay : 9 : MOTM - Goals aside even, he was superb. The first half display was near perfect. Sub: Varney : 5 : When he came on the ball no longer stuck up front. Nowhere near as beneficial to Tudgay's game as Clarke is. TheBoyBeevers
Grant- 7 (Couple of good saves, and didn't have a chance with the goal.) Buxton- 7 (Struggled a little bit after Batt came on but was largely fine today and put in a couple of dangerous crosses as well.) Purse- 8 (Excellent, this is the man we wanted- he would have put his face in the way off a bus today if it had meant 3 points.) Beevers- 8 (I said in the academy section that this would happen. He was great again- only made one proper error when he let Mcloud get in behind him, but he recovered brilliantly.) Spurr- 7 (Much more like the Tommy of old- he looks so, so, so much better with Gray in front of him.) Soares- 7 (Adds good balance to the team and shows quality on the ball- definitely try and keep him for this season if Stoke will let us.) Potter- 8 (Great on the ball today, and was very unlucky not to gt a goal as reward.) JoC- 7 (Continued his good form- on another note he's also hard as flip. ) Gray- 8 (Impressive today- UNBELIEVABLE fitness, his sprint at the end of the game when Lewis was out of his goal was awesome! Can't think of a better rolemodel for the younger players to have.) Clarke- 8 (I thought he'd bottle it today against a 6 foot 8 giant, but he dominated that battle and laid the foundations for the win with reallt good link up play.. worked hard and would be a very handy player for us if he could play like this more often.) Tudgay-9 (Tuggy is back- goals to come in the next few weeks, he was oozing confidence by the end.) General observations: 1) Our corners are 20x better now than when Laws was in charge- no flipping about with short corner routines- just whipping the ball in at pace around the 6 yard box and allowing our lads to attack it. 2) I really can't see Varney fitting in to how Irvine sets out the team- he's poor at holding the ball and has got a poo first touch which mean's he loses the ball too often. (Not that this is a shock- we know what Varney brings to the team and what he doesn't.) 3) It was nice to see the players battle at the end and not give in- very much like the Barnsley game in how the spine of the team stayed strong when previously it would have collapsed. 4) We defended the long throws brilliantly- i'd hazard a guess that this could be because of better preparation? 5) It was nice to go into a game expecting to win, and to actually win. the gaffer
Grant-7 made 2 very good saves, decent kicking, bit hesitant coming off his line to command area Buxton-7 booked early on, but did everything asked of him, got forward occasionally Spurr 7- see Buxton Purse 8- best game in an owls shirt, getting better by the game Beevers 8- MOM for me, not quite as good as Barnsley, but won every header, good clearances, distribution not always the best Soares-7 Did a job, covered the full back, worked hard, few surging runs when he cut inside Gray- few good diagonal balls, calm on ball, worked well with Spurr Oconnor- terrier performance, covered some grass, and got foot in Potter-8 best game in ages, joy to watch, very close MOM contender, just overdid it at times on edge of box Tudgay-8 the tudders of old, 2 well taken goals, linked the play, put a shift in. Clarke-7 did well, holding ball up, finishing when clean through, left alot to be desired varney-5 ball didnt stick when clarke went off, huff n puff but nothing of real note in his 20 min cameo Father Ted-9 very animated, tactics were spot on again, always taking notes on sidelines, the incident where he slammed the ball down , 3 in 3-keep em coming! Crowd-8 i was sat in south because took my two lil cousins (5), (7) so thought id avoid kop, north which sounded in very good voice from where i was, 24,800 fantastic turnout! Uto wtid! gweimo
Grant: 7 : Good as always. looked 10 years older than when I saw him last, must be playing behind purse. Buxton: 7.5 :Looking good, great crosses. Purse : 6.5 : Looking better but still makes worrying mistakes, not MOTM standard quite yet! Nice to hear a few praises in the crowd and less grumbles. Beevers : 6.5 : Slow initially but looked much better towards the end. Spurr: 6.5 : Not the best display seen from him. Soares : 6 : Lots of little mistakes, seemed to struggle with fitness and didn't seem to be giving all. Potter : 8.75 : Fantastic! Joint MOTM with Tudders. O'Connor : 7.5: Kept going, did well. Gray : 7: Odd to keep switching sides,he's much better on the left. Good as always, never stops. Clarke : 8 : Great partnership with Tudders, kept the ball up front, problems started when he went off. Tudgay : 8.75 : Joint MOTM with Potter, great to finally see him get the goals he has deserved for games. Sub: Varney : 5 : He doesn't keep the ball like Clarke. Didn't really help the game. Other: Father Ted-9 sat very close to him and could see every expression, he seems a damn hard manager to please and it's obviously good for the boys. He noted every little point, wrote everything down and seemed really respected by the players already. Crowd-9 What a great atmosphere and what a turnout! Brilliant day out! Beevers - 7 - Defensively solid but poor distribution today Spurr - 7 - Nothing special , but once again a big improvement on recent displays Soares - 6 - Shows glimpses of what hes capable of........admittedly playing out of position but would like him to get involved more O,Connor - 7 - Grafted really hard without catching the eye Potter - 8 - About time..............when you see a performance like this it makes you doubly annoyed at how inept hes been all season.........hope he keeps this up as we look a far better side when hes ticking Gray - 7 - Not one of his vintage displays but we do look a much better team when he plays Clarke - 7 - One appalling miss apart he looked very impressive Tudgay - 8 - Back to something like...........hope his goals kick start his season again Overall Wasnt very pretty at times , but given the situation that we are in its a case of as needs must , and another very welcome 3 points

Beevers - 8 Really strong display, better use of ball than of late. Purse - 9 Excellent today. Won most headers. Fantasic tackle running towards cop. Leaders job. Spurr - 7 Solid. Gray - 8 Never stopped running, great quality again. O'Connor - 7 Worked well with Potter. Potter - 8 Much better use of the ball than recently, great tackling too. Soares - 7 Worked hard to close down. Tudgay - 7 Clinical headers, caused defenders a lot of problems. Clarke - 6 Good foil for Tudgay but apart from one piece of skill in 1st half was lacking again. Poor finishing. Varney - 6 Never got into the game as midfield tired towards the end.
