EFL 23/24

Recommended Posts

Thought it worth a thread on general EFL talking points outside our usual rivals.

Bolton having a decent start. Rocky for derby and rumours of Darren Moore potentially taking over from Warne at some point? Currently losing at home again…let’s not go back to L1…please.

Sunderland also ones to watch and similar challenges to us, mainly investing in youth which is a great idea if they pay off, but also sidelining some decent experienced players. Risky.

I still don’t see Barnsley making the top 6.

They’ve lost a few key players, lost a very good manager and replaced him with a novice, not only a step down in quality but also it looks like the club going for the cheap option which isn’t a great sign going forward.

They had to go up last season, they’ve missed their chance.

They still have some handy players for certain games as that 7-0 showed. But with that lack of experience and national league recruitment you’d have to think there will be spells during a season which may cost them.

Early days but wouldn't be shocked if Bolton absolutely walk that league, already scored 12 goals.

Derby though.

Yeah Adebayo is maybe an example of what we are trying to get from some of the longer term contracts here. At one point he was binned off by Barnsley but after a season or two he’s now looking hot property

Just watching a stream dingles v posh Barnsley not firing on all cylinders but slightly more industrious, very even game, deflected goal just given them the lead, both keepers have made one outstanding save each.

Mates a dingle and hes heard Coventry could be in for Kitching.

Looks a good player but mainly noticeable for his forays forward rather than defending

Been watching Derby game for last 20 minutes. They're offering absolutely nothing going forward and just gone 2 down. That said Oxford look far better than last season, recruited well in the summer.

Can't see anybody but Bolton and Barnsley romping this league now.

It’s always a bit misleading the first five games. But Derby could easily panic on warne. That’s a strong starting 11 that’s not performing. They lack depth though whoever is managing.

Oxford looked alright when we played them under manning.

Dingles perhaps showing some inexperience now. Kitching clanger.

As an aside seems a lot of managers are getting booked still for nothing
