Groundhopping Owl
Sad read, albeit one with an encouraging ending. Good player on his day Treacy, didn’t he score against us for Burnley at Hillsborough the next season after promotion?

One of my best memories watching Wednesday that was. That was a foooking awesome day!
malek
When Dave Jones asked him to join us he said that he was nowhere near fit enough. Jones told him to pack his left peg and that he will be ok.
areNOTwhatTHEYseem
That's a very sobering read (excuse the pun). I had no idea what Treacy had been through, and to be honest had completely forgotten about him, despite rating him while he was here. It just goes to show that addiction can affect anyone, and in some ways, despite all the perks of the job, footballers are almost prime candidates: young men with a lot of disposable income and a lot of spare time on their hands. You'd like to think that clubs are more aware of these issues and more proactive in trying to guide young players nowadays, but I'm not so sure about that.
