No player intentionally sets out to have a season as poor as this one has been for him. Do worry he might slide down the leagues like Winnall. If he’s on 25k a week though, like Winnall’s reported 18k, there’s every chance he’s not too worried! Although I find Derby’s keenness to extend his contract strange if he genuinely is on big money. May was also out of his depth although he came highly recommended, albeit from the Scottish leagues, but failed to get going. Both players were out injured for a long time shortly after arriving at Hillsborough but, whilst you cannot fault either player's effort, neither were really good enough for the task in hand.
