Not saying I necessarily agree with all the conclusions, but perhaps some food for thought.

Could be some socio-economic factors, for example the cost of goalkeeper gloves could put many people off from poorer backgrounds as it's doubling the cost in addition to football boots. 

 

In general goalkeeper is a weak area for the English game, and no recent top goalkeepers mean that kids don't idolise the keeper at the moment which means less kids wanting to be the keeper.

Playing in a 5 aside team now it's hard work finding someone who is keen to go in goal lol

 

 

 

Absolutely, the thing that baffles me is that coaches want their keepers playing out now and they're essentially asking the guys who were terrible at football hence going in the net to do things with the ball.
