SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY BOOKS

I'm just setting up the Owlstalk shop and doing the Sheffield Wednesday Book section. Above is just a tiny selection of what we've got so far so check out the shop we've set up in the link below for the full list to date.

Have a look at these Sheffield Wednesday books here - SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY BOOKS

Tell me what we're missing and if you can recommend any others/new ones

The Tom Whitworth one Owls through the modern era should be essential reading for all Wednesdayites.

Warning alert - Grandad gets a good mention.

That book is absolutely cracking

We've got it on the shop now

Amazing book that definitely gives the absolute facts about some of the stuff that went off (Di Canio, Big Ron leaving etc)

I found the Tom Whiteworth one a bit dull. Too much of the off the field politics on and details about meetings with the banks.

Not saying they are not important but was hoping to read more about the actual on field stuff (of course I know the 2 are linked)

Also subsequent events the chapter about a new dawn in 2016 hasn't aged well.

6/10

I enjoyed Blue & White Wizards & A Quarter of Wednesday published in 1995 and covering Wednesday history 1970-95

There's the Owls books part of the bibliography in 'Our Lowest Ebb'.

Not sure how many are still available, as some I've had on my shelf for years, but I'd highly recommend:

Keith Farnsworth - Wednesday! and the Sheffield Football: A History ones.

Steve Ellis' book of pictures has some great images.

Andy Cooper's book on Eric Taylor told a story that needed telling.

John Firth's - I hate football is great on the fans experience.

Also I'd recommend Derek Dooley and Len Ashurst's autobiographies. Both well written with lots on the Owls.

Is that a Sheffield Wednesday book?

Yes it’s a fans view of following Wednesday and England. He says the words “Girlie puff” quite a bit, but it has some interesting stories. Especially when the rock up at a millwall pub.
