I know its not a win, or a cup or owt, can't even remember the result..sometime in the 70's. You could walk all the way around brisbane Rd back in the day... We were on the away end, but as usual a fair few had gone down and were all over the ground in groups..No trouble ..until..an owls fan on the home end decided to shin up a flagpole and put a Wednesday flag up, where the union jack was...(As I remember it) The cheers started as he was sorta halfway up and most of The Wednesday following caught sight of it... Fair play to whoever it was..he got to the top and then started having a bit of trouble. The bottom of said flagpole was soon surrounded by London Bobbies, and the Owls lad, was slowly givin' in to gravity.... Cue a mass migration from the away end and wherever else....not a pitch invasion, just a sort of polite wandering over to the home end...you could actually walk through the stand on the right hand side, end up on the home end.... It was all sorta "Excuse me madame" as The owls walked through the stand....negotiated with the police, and the lad was allowed to slide down and was escorted back to the away end... The Police were totally excellent that day, and seemed to find it as funny as the rest of us did, even the Orient fans were laughing... Reminds me of another police-at-the-match related story from the Wednesday versus Arsenal trilogy at Leicester's old Filbert Street ground. Wednesday fans were allocated the triple decker stand and the view in parts wasn't very good. One brave lad shinned out on one of the huge girders under the stand to get a better view. To the cheers of the Wednesday fans, two young police officers tried unsuccessfully to talk down the fan with fan using the excuse "I can't move... I'm frightened" The two bobbies returned with what we might call a seasoned old sergeant who bellowed "GERROFF THAT F*****G GIRDER... NOW!!!". The fan got down. That's proper policing for you.

myHero
I remember Wednesday players running at defenders and the defenders hadn't got a clue what to to do. I remember my first Derby match. I remember the grass was as flat as a bowling green. I remember them saying "He's fat, he's round, he's taking Wednesday down, Atkinson, Atkinson." And then this happened. It was a slight hearted point, that we’ve been crap for most of the last 20 years and haven’t won many away. It was tongue in cheek Owlstalk seems to have lost something over the years; everything is personal now isn’t it!

Cheers! I hadn’t 100% decided, was down to a shortlist of three, but I’m going to change tack with it a bit to make it more a wholly separate offering anyway. I’d like it to offer something different to other bits out there - seems a shame to compete directly with a project that beat you to the punch in this field, where there’s so much room for ideas development. I’ll just take it back to the drawing board for a bit.

Just imagine if we'd been able to buy Ben Marshall and Danny Bath! It's not all about tactics, it's about picking the right players to build a team that works. it's about a lot of things, tactics and having the 'right players' are just two of them.
