Bluey9
There was a thread on here about a year about taking kids with autism to the match. I felt inspired reading the various comments, so much so that I got Luke (hes13) his first season ticket. It was a bit tricky at first, but he now comfortably lasts the whole match. Don't get me wrong, he doesn't follow the match, but like most things, we keep doing it enough and he starts to get it...it may take until next season or longer, but he loves going to the match. What's more (and I hate to say because it will wee wee tail it up.......but it's got to happen some time...) he has still never seen us lose...12 matches in total now. I'd love to hear how fellow autistic owls are doing Absolutely fantastic Wakefield Proud of you mate !
PhatOwl
Does anybody know of any football sessions for kids with autism? I would love for my son to be able to do this with kids also going through the same thing. Or is it something that we could organise as a collective on here? My son is one of the coaches (I'm very proud to say). I will send you a pm with his contact details. You can give him a ring and have a chat with him about it. legendaryswan
Heart warming read this. I have a 5 year old ASD son,I keep testing him out,but while he enjoys the odd game on tv,hes insistent he doesnt want to go to a live game. But i live in hope and reading this thread gives me optimism for the future. I coach a couple of teams of players with mixed SEN as part of my job. But these are for 16 +. I'm not entirely sure on teams or sessions for younger ages. But the best thing to do is contact the Sheffield and hallamshire disability officer, Jason White. He's really helpful and will be able to point you to any sessions/ groups that meet your requirements. His details are on this page http://www.sheffieldfa.com/play/disability
Rentaghost
Wednesday have a reall good disability program as well, again I'm not sure on younger teams as we don't play them, but they have several sides at 16+ level.
