Guest In_Milan_We_Trust
Just been looking on the football specials section on oddschecker and there are 6 betting markets for us. The one that takes my fancy more than any is the relegation yes or no bet. We are 5/2 to get relegated and 2/7 to stay up. £700 to win £200 gives a 28.57% return on your money for a 11 month investment. Which bank offers you that???? As with any bet there is always a risk but can anyone really see us getting relegated?? http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/sheff-wed-specials/relegation UTO WTID
oh_weds_we_love_you
Anyone who can afford to bet £700 doesn't really need £200 though mate! And 12 months is a long time in football! Edited June 1, 2012 by oh_weds_we_love_you

I take your point but i was looking at it like an isa investment and if you compare it to that its a no brainer!!! (in theory ) UTO WTID

(in theory ) UTO WTID But you aren't going to lose the money in your ISA to a last minute penalty given by a poo ref are you? Just not bothered... Guest In_Milan_We_Trust
So in summary we are going to get relegated as Milan took Leicester down in 07/08 to a last minute dodgy penalty. Well in that case i might as well take my season ticket back and ask for a refund. All doom and gloom today isnt it. In reality,It wont make any difference if we do suffer a dodgy last minute penalty as we are going to be nowhere round the bottom 4 for it to make a blind bit of difference. However if it makes you feel better please feel free to bring this thread back up if it happens. UTO WTID
townend_owl
Calm down Milan! Hardly doom and gloom is it, suggesting that a £700 bet that returns £200 over 11 months is stupid?
Tawny Owl
It isn't stupid, 7k returns 2k, if you have money in the bank and you have faith in the owls then that's not a bad way to go. The last time I had an ISA I put in £1700 and got £1200 back!
nevthelodgemoorowl
The way I see it Betting shops and Casinos are far safer than Banks these days. If Greece goes, Spain goes, if Spain goes, who knows ....Shop around you may get 1/3.
townend_owl
as far as bets go it is stupid. You might have faith in the owls, but at least with the bank you get something back, typically a little more. With your 7k bet you either end up with 9k or 0k and nobody can really be THAT sure about what will happen over a season
TheEnchanter
That's like throwing away a tenner and then over the next 12 months attempting to accumulate £12 in 1 and 2p coins picked up off the floor.
beswetherick
If you bet £700 over the course of the season, chances are you'd make more than £200 profit if you did your homework.
Sweet Shezza
I'd see who we sign. Right now, I wouldn't bet on us

El Wednesday
For the record, I'm very confident we'll stay up but not enough to stake that much on at that price. Personally I always steer clear of betting on us for fear of the jinx factor.
