MrEdwards
I think teams are too cautious putting strikers into first teams. Look at Rashford, remember Ritchie Humphries, if he's good enough he's old enough. Don't think it's good for the club or the player to have a Lavery style scenario where we keep them around but it's blatant they won't get anywhere near the team. If they're nowhere near the first team by 18/19 they're probably never going to be ready. With George I'd say get him training with the first team next season, give him the occasional 30 minutes and early cup games, get him out on loan in L1 the second half of the season, then champ loan season after, then hopefully at 18/19 he can be pushing for a start

RUMBELOWS91
Different kinds of strikers nature at different ages - Young, pacey poachers (Owen, Jeffers, Defoe) tend to be effective from an early age- less explosive strikers with more to their game (Sheringham, Crouch, Bright) tend to need a bit more experience. Vardy is perhaps the exception to the rule.
londonowl
One word, well two. Michael Owen. No I'm not saying that Hirst is old enough because Michael Owen was. Owen himself has admitted that his career was half of what it should have been because he played too many games when he was too young.

royalowlisback
With CC hinting at resting both FF and GH, it leaves us a little light in attack. He might even rest Joao- he is a possible starter vs Boro/Brighton. With Lavery completely out of favour, that only leaves Nuhiu. I know Matias could play 'upfront', but with Pudil also likely to be rested, I'd expect Helan (our only other fit left-back) to replace him, meaning Matias is likely start on the left. Therefore it is not that outrageous that folk suggested that Hirst make up the numbers on the bench - nobody suggested he should start.

dfoster
Well Biggsy's tweet makes it clear Hirst Would have had a run at Wolves .... And isn't Biggs close to Lee Bullen? So probably pretty much on the money Think Clare might get a run out too
