Sunderland

Recommended Posts

Looking at this game tonight it shows how atmosphere and home advantage makes a difference. Luton playing very like Peterborough did.

What is sobering is they have been excellent but 4 nil looks beyond them, not that they need it.

Sunderland could nick one late on as Luton must be expending everything

We can pass it sideways along the back line well.

We are magnificent at that tbf.

That and then the panic hoof as we realise we've not actually gone anywhere.

Unfortunately Sunderland getting schooled

They have lost their heads a bit and everybody is overplaying - plus some really poor final passes

Luton look a handy outfit - physically they are outgunning Sunderland

Soz Sunderland - it's my natural kiss of death that afflicts any team i want to win

City will cop for it tomorrow night too...

There is something about playing at these smaller old grounds with these tighter pitches when the home team are at it.

Really can swallow you up and spit you back out as the away team.

Sunderland playing like Wednesday would at a place like this

Yep, this is us all over.

Heads went after the second goal and have never looked like getting back in it since.

Luton seem a team full of average players, no big names but they have one hell of a team spirit. Just shows you don’t have to have a team of names to achieve good things.

As Alf Ramsey said “ pick your best team, not your best players”. Or summat like that.

Teams have struggled with that concept since especially England, try and fit players in even out of position.

Sunderland's tactic seems to be run with the ball until they run into a Luton player

They've completely lost their heads

A few times where they've had an option to pass wide, hesitated, and then either just passed back into the congested middle or lost the ball.
