That is a good shout. IIRC we'd been hit by some sort of illness and fielded a weakened team (can't find details anywhere to confirm). Preston gave us a bit of a pasting on their horrible plastic pitch but Woods had a storming game then, like the good teams do, we scored twice in about 5 mins. As a side comment, it was the same day that Arsenal (who were defending champions) last at Wrexham (who had finished bottom of Division 4 as it called was then) before the days of automatic promotion/relegation with the Conference. legendaryswan
Pete Eustace at Leeds in the replayed FA Cup 3rd round game,he was phenominal, his finest game for us without a shadow. Les Cocker walked straight over to him at the end of the match and shook his hand and then did the same with the other Owls players that night,he made it look like the matrix,he won headers tackles never wasted a pass,he was the best player on the park that night, every move came through him
manicowl
Waddle vs West Ham is the obvious one but I'm going for Peter Atherton against Liverpool at Anfield in late 96. He did not give McManaman a kick. They even analysed his performance on MOTD.
katie melua
Many rave about Roland Nilssons performance in the league cup final (and quite rightly so) against Manchester United but Nigel Pearson that day was fantastic as well I think from memory, ITV game him the man of the match in that game. He was superb dealing with a top class strike force that Mark Hughes and Brian McClair were
