We need to mobilise as a fanbase to oppose the “SYP/SAG” restrictions. How do we do that?

@nevthelodgemoorowl I got one too. Its a bit of a joke when you consider the SAG were party to allowing the Meadowhall event to go ahead last night despite a severe flood warning affecting thousands of people that were encouraged throughout the day to attend.

Great point Ronnie ! Also congratulations to SAG for all their research on the impact analysis on Rotherham & Doncaster subsequent of the installation of flood defences.

Got this from Clive Betts earlier...

Dear Neville,

I understand your frustration about the continuing situation at Hillsborough and the prohibition notice.

One of the difficulties now is that this is all subject to legal action and will be heard at the Magistrate’s Court later this month.   I think the other real problem is that relationships between the Club and the police have effectively broken down and people probably will not get back together round the table until the court case is out of the way.

I am sending you a copy of the reply I did get from John Mothersole.   I have also since met with Sheffield Wednesday on a couple of occasions.   I have met with Mark Roberts, the Deputy Chief Constable on two occasions and both sides think they are absolutely right about the action they have taken which comes back to relations having broken down and both sides digging in.

I think the best we can do is to try and get everyone round the table as soon as the court case is out of the way.   I have talked to Cllr Bob Johnson about this and to Julie Dore as well and to Alan Billings and I think we all agree that eventually a round table with at least initially an informal discussion might be the best way to try and begin to resolve things.

Yours sincerely

Below is the strange format that was forwarded to Clive from John Mothersole, Sorry as it has been scrambled somewhat.

Dear Clive Thank you for your email dated 3rdSeptember 2019 and I hope that the information below helps clarifies the situation. On the 25th June 2019 South Yorkshire Police submittedan independent report from an internationally renowned crowd dynamics specialist regardingthe access andegress of supporters via the Leppings Lane concourse. The content of the report raised significant concernsregarding the geography of the stadium at that end, and drew on evidence not just from the SWFC v SUFC fixture, but also the Aston Villa fixture a short time later.Whilst it was unfortunate that the report was submitted so close to the start of the new season, the Council has a statutory roleas the Certifying Authority under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 and had no choice but to determine if any action was required to ensure public safety at the stadium. The report was shared with SWFCby email on 27thJune2019and it was askedto provideits formal responsein the nearfuture. On 5thJuly2019,a hard copy of the reportwas hand delivered, together with an invitationto formally provide the clubs response at an Extraordinary Safety Advisory Group (SAG)meeting on 17thJuly2019. This meeting was then postponed at the Club’s request and re-arranged for the 25thJuly 2019 when SAG considered the matter. This gave the club ample time to prepare a response to the matters raised. At the conclusion of the meeting on 25thJuly, a prohibition notice was issued restricting access to and egress from the North Stand via Leppings Lane.I can confirm that any action taken was deemed necessary and proportionate based on the facts that were presented to the Safety Advisory Group and the Club.SWFC has now submitted a proposed plan to the SAG which accommodates the recommendations of the initial report and the prohibition notice, which was agreed and put in place for the start of the EFL season. The club feels that this plan ensures thesafety of those attending the stadium as well as complying with the terms of the prohibition notice. This plan and the prohibition notice will be kept under constant review.

-2-As you may be aware SWFC has lodged an appeal against the issue of the prohibition, which will be heard in the Courts in due course. With regards to the impact of the prohibition upon the elderly and disabled supporters, whilst the paramount consideration has to be crowd safety I am pleased to be able to report that the club and the Council have discussed this issue and a plan to enable easier access and egress to these groups has been formulated and is currently under detailed consideration. Should there be any significant advances in this regardthe club will communicate directlywith the fans affected. It is hoped that a solution will be agreed in the near future.Your comments in relation to the situation at SUFCare noted. I can confirm that following last season’s fixture with SWFCa report was presented to the Safety Advisory Group and several recommendations made. SUFChas taken this report on board and changes have been made at the Bramall Lane end of the ground, both physical and operational.Returning to Sheffield Wednesday, the Councilhave looked to work closely with SWFC, and specifically with the clubs Safety Officer, to put in to place new arrangements and to find a suitable solution to the issues raised in the report. I can assure you that any formal action taken will only be that deemed necessary topromote and ensure stadium safety.Yours sincerely

John Mothersole Chief Executive

Mothersole rowing back from his very public outburst following the Luton home game - I received a response from the Council on this matter - what astounded me was the comment in bold:

In terms of the published comments, it is Council policy that all high profile media releases are made in the name of the Chief Executive where applicable.

The comments attributed to Mr Mothersole regarding the exits from the North Stand were as a direct result of social media comments alleging serious issues on the concourses at the early season games. It is the clubs responsibility to calculate a safe exit capacity in light of any reduced exits, and any failure to do so correctly (as alleged by the comments on social media) would result in the Council as the certifying authority responsible for issuing a safety certificate for the stadium being obliged to step in further. As it happens, the calculations carried out by the club appear to be satisfactory at this stage.

The Council has and will continue to work in partnership with Sheffield Wednesday to assist them in managing this situation. This is a particularly difficult issue for all concerned but one which cannot simply be ignored in light of the evidence presented. You will be aware that the club has lodged an appeal against the prohibition notice, which is their statutory right. All available evidence will be revisited by the Court, with expert witness testimony from several parties likely to be heard.
