Its not about spurts, it's about partners, and we are safe through to December. 25 games partnering FF - 5 goals for Hooper 45 games partnering "a big-un" - 22 goals for Hooper While he stays fit, and while he partners Fletch, the goals will flow. And we'll probably stay midtable. Points for the team are what matters, not Hooper finishing top scorer. If FF/Hooper play together and we win (which has happened many times), IT WORKED. The individual goal tally of either player is irrelevant. You give the impression you would be happier with Hooper finishing top scorer than the team succeeding. It's very odd. IstillhateSteveBould
The problem with situations like ours at the moment (relying on the goals of 1 player), is obviously if the goals dry up. Look at Leeds last season with Wood. His goals covered up the fact that they were just a bang average team. When he was out or if didn't score, they struggled. I fear Hooper's goals are covering up what an average team we are.

SiJ
So were an average team now. Righto. Two playoff finishes in two years, but we might as well give up folks.

After the 1st eleven games, we are average. 12th is average. One thing we agree on is that we have the players in the squad to finish higher than 12th. It has been an indifferent start, but then quite a few of the so-called favs have made indifferent starts too - Boro, Fulham etc. 4pts off the playoffs in any event, with much football to play. Eightace
I always knew if he was left to it he'd get the goals. You have to keep faith with certain players and not chop and change every week. I think Rhodes would benefit from a long run in the team but atm maybe Fletcher is the better partner for Hooper.

But we were higher up the table I believe. In this year's championship we're bang average at the moment. We also had Forestieri last season and the one before. His goals won us a lot of points. It remains to be seen whether we can challenge for the playoffs without him. Edited October 4, 2017 by IstillhateSteveBould

Right now Hooper is firing, but previously it was Fletcher banging them in.

Got it... we we need a winger to chip in with 12-15 a season. Bit like a Knockaert, Ince, Jota, Forestieri type.

We're not better than 12th; we are 12th. Our goals scored total is joint 12th ish, our goal against is the same. 4pt off the play offs now = c16 points off at season end. We've not had bad luck or massive injuries, we don't expect a massive investment in the squad, therefore to rise higher, our current team need to perform higher. Currently we're 12th.
