GARY MADINE GOAL MACHINE

Recommended Posts

You clearly don't go to nightclubs mate. I see fights EVERY time I go out. Personally I dont get involved.

But seems like every week there's somebody getting into a fight over nothing.

I don't frequent nightclubs these days you're quite right!

Though I have in the past for many years and never been involved in any sort of Fracas.

They might well happen every week. I just don't see it as normal behaviour.

Maybe I could make some money out of this breakdown in society.

Buy myself a big old disused warehouse in the East end.

Put a bar in and build a giant bear pit in the middle and for £10 entry let all the morons come and get drunk and then kick the sh*t out of each other.

That way they have their 'fun' and the normal public can go for a quiet drink in town without and fear of being randomly bashed.

The story is that Madine was guilty of unprovoked attacks. Not the same as your mates.

Not true,   I know an acquaintance of of one of the guys he hit.  They were goading him and winding him up all night.   Not excusing it, but it wasn't unprovoked. They were only in it after that for compensation.

The court saw it differently. I've said this before too; I know the family of one of the victims. He was subjected to an unprovoked attack. He never saw it coming.

I've argued that Madine should be allowed to resume his career with us but trivialising his criminal actions does not serve anyone well. He also had a previous conviction for assault in Carlisle.

A couple of them do it all the time. Stupid really. But testorone flies around when alcohol is consumed.

I've seen fights happen first hand in night clubs. I'm prepared to give Gary a chance.

I understand where youre coming from Jon, my clubbing days are long gone but late 80's/early 90's in places like the Limit where we used to  would have made madine think twice about clocking a wednesdayite I can tell you....

I think youre missing my point, i'm not commenting on society just we have a lad who manages to get arrested for it again and again and again

Thats not broken britain is just plain dim!

I know what you mean pal. And you're right. This is really last chance now for Gary.

Fingers crossed he can stay out of trouble.

I know that Roy Keane used to find this happening a hell of a lot when he first moved to Manchester United. City and Liverpool fans goading on nights out.

He discovered the way to stop it though.

He stopped going into town and getting smashed.

The court saw it differently.

The conviction notwithstanding, I am not sure the prosecution could have gone in there with the " the victims  were giving him grief all night"  line of attack. Might not have been as favourable as the 'innocent bystanders minding their own business'  routine.

Anyway. .....

That's enough from me,

I'm sure that Madine had a decent legal team with counter arguments. He's been a serial offender. As I say the family of one of the victims saw it the same way as the courts. There's other stuff too but better left in the past.

Did he show genuine remorse? I thought he plead not guilty.

he claimed it was self-defence, and didn't it happened, whether that was an honest answer or not it is plausible that he regretted his actions and the consequences there from.

maybe you haven't but a lot of people are guilty of over-reacting when drunk and resorting to violence, just when its a proffessional footballer whos responsible it's hard for the other party not to turn down a potential cash cow.

There's no morals in football, there hasn't been for years. It's all about the money.

Forget your history and your once proud club as it counts for nothing if there's a chance of making or potentially losing a few quid. I remember you lot getting on the moral high-horse when we had Mattock on loan, now all is forgiven with the thug Madine and (with the odd exception) he is welcomed back like a returning hero.

I fully expect Ched to rock back up at Bramall Lane and no doubt there will be a 500 page thread on here about SUFC's lack of morals and that you "can't compare the crime" which may be true but there's murderers, thieves, thugs, wife beaters playing week in week out so forget about standing on your soap box as it's a waste of time...

Well that's jolly well told us.

madine got drunk and twatted a couple of people. ched was drunk with his mates and found a wasted girl on the street and took her with to a hotel room rather than calling her a taxi-that is unexcusable and should be kept away from drink and women accordingly.

madine's been inside now and maybe realises the priveleges he has and hopefully realises he shouldnt be drinking and definitely not being in town giving it the big one. time will tell with madine but letting ched back would send a very bad message to young lads who dont realise either the effects or the reality of their behaviours towards women. maybe ched could be resocialised but to be somewhere where he could be regarded as a role model would be completely inappropriate unless he becomes mother theresa over night, but seen as though he still claims there was nothing wrong with his actions i dont see that happening.
