Guest phshaw
Besides being reliable and a very good reader of the game, he actually had that useful commodity, pace. My MOM in the league Cup win and he was an unsung hero, who complemented the game of Pearson. In '93 his injury vs Liverpool was a turning point after a terrific run and he was a huge loss in the Cup Finals. For me he was very under-rated, I thought he was a terrific defender who should have been capped by England.

York_Owl
Does anyone know the reason why we let him go in the 80s? Thought we would have been better off keeping him and Pearson together for the 91-92 season rather than playing Warhust ahead of him

pat blondeau
Just read this: Peter Shirtliff has the highest win ratio in the premier league of any Wednesday player (check out who Southampton's is too)...
Guest zipzippy
Fantastic business by big Ron - sold Ian Cranston to fund bringing shirty back home. Was let go too soon by trev- . Wolves fans lived him too !
Owl1974
He's done it again.... Shirtliff The commentator only shouts He's done it again be because he thinks it's Pearson that's scored He practically admits it commentating on the replay when he says that free kick routine has worked well for Wednesday this season but it's normally Pearson that gets on the end of them.
