Is everyone too scared?

Recommended Posts

Is Dave Jones too scared to play 4-4-2 given the crap he got from our fans when he did ?

Are the players too nervous to play their normal game ?

Are the midfielders too scared to play their normal through balls?

Have we got back to the point when the team and manager are just doing enough not to get fired and are too nervous to relax and go for it?

...fear destroys a team. Irvine managed it in bucket loads..and right now you can see that fear in everything we do. Madine yesterday was more frightened of being off side than he was of banging the ball into the back of the net...

...fear of mistakes leads to mistakes...but it is a fine line between not being fearfull and being complacent. It is a very hard culture to destroy.

Yes.

DJ should realise 4-5-1 is a negative system (the way we play it) which is designed as a damage limitation exercise.

It will not win us enough games to stay up.

He should revert to 4-4-2, especially at home, play to our attacking strengths and we will survive.

Persisting with 4-5-1 will cost him his job IMHO.

The thing is, we're playing 451 to accomodate the talent of Barkley. I think we'd be better playing 352 with JJ and Antonio on the wings. The lone forward is too isolated, Antonio tries to get forward and help the striker, but he can't do it all on his own all the time

Why's it negaive the way we play it? Or are you just making that up cos you realised that plenty of succesful teams play 4-5-1.

Exactly

This is where fans can help, stopping the abuse on twitter and making Hillsborough a deafening fortress again instead of the silent library it was the last two games

...fookin' hell Neil...we've done it for decades!!...the change needs to happen on the pitch!

Of course it is negative the way we are playing. the system itself can be very good, if used to attack, we are using it to try and get a draw or to nick a win, it is not working as we are too negative in our general play and do not get forward enough.

..the fans...been loud...given support...all this season too..except the last two games....and why is that? It's because of the set up on the pitch...needs to change.

I bet Semedo day will be better than the last two home games

Time after time the players tell us that the crowds noise helps them big time

Antonio told us that the crowd created the goal that got us promoted

Etc

Etc

Our fans can play a massive part

Or they can just sit silent with arms folded whilst our team struggles

Its up to us

Agree with this. I am worried about DJ's management though.

I know what you mean - but think we should make hillsborough deafening until its sorted

If the fans dont make a positive noise then we will be back to the minority having the loudest boys and hillsborough will be a place for boooos and abuse again
