Guest philkingsmullet
Happy Clapper. You deserve credit for giving credit to Megson. All of the other anti-Megson lot seem to be keeping their powder dry. They'll soon be out when Megson farts in the wrong direction. Could I ask why you don't like Megson? You seem relentless in your pursuit of him. Thanks shandy, that's all I was trying to get across, I don't like him, but happy to admit Iam being proved wrong. I'm just not sure he allows us to play football. I've not missed a game yet, and after bury I was convinced he was the wrong appointment. 2nd half yesterday, I thought completely the opposite, we would have lost that game last year. I suppose I'm starting to think 'hey, he is here, we'r moving forward, focus on something else' which I'm happy to do.

BRADDAZ
MK had bucket loads off possession today and the reason they did is because we let them we didn't get in there faces at all in first half and that's why they looked so good.I agree I wish we could play football like that.I rate megson and understand that with our injuries that when we get a injured or tired striker he is gonna be replaced with a midfielder.1 thing I don't understand is why not have a young striker on bench like modest or some other just for now.the lads deserve credit today winnin 2-1 and megson changed formation to more defensively and they still went forward and scored well done lads We didn't need to get in their faces. We kept our shape and pressured when necessary. MK Don's had load of the ball and looked like doing sweet f.a. with it because our defensive play was so good. They could not break us down. They didn't look so good either. They kept it the ball going sideways (Potter was loving it). Not hurting us at all.

Had we broken our team shape by charging out of midfield a player at a time looking for the ball, we would have been ripped open. As it was, they ran out of ideas and resorted to knocking it about on the half way line for 25 minutes.

The thing is that it is just all 'black and white' here on OwlsTalk with regard to the big topics. I expressed the opinion that Heffernan wasn't good enough and got dogs abuse but I would hazard a good guess that I am seen as a happy clapper because I generally try to be balanced IMO. I would say in terms of the current Megson debate: He has an enormous job to do and it won't be pretty at times, however, he can employ WWE tactics for me if it gets us out of this league. Saxondale
MK Dons were "superb" first half? I must have watched a different game because I can't remember ROD breaking sweat once.
Guest TonyOwl88
I think its a bit sad if it pains you to praise our team's manager and captain. Great tactics again from Megson. He knows how to get the points.
Beholder
bloody hell. Choose your words carefully on here folks. There is an eager crowd of people who like nothing more than to rip you to shreds and thereby get some sort of moral high ground if you don't. MK Don's had load of the ball and looked like doing sweet f.a. with it because our defensive play was so good. They could not break us down. Exactly this. I've noticed it in every home game so far this season, we have a clear and obvious game plan when we don't have possession of the ball. We sit back and have the defence in a straight line, Semedo and Prutton 10 yards ahead of the centre-backs, at all times. They stay solid like that until the opposition cross an imaginary line across the pitch which appears to be about 35-40 yards away from our goal, at which point the team are suddenly triggered into action and everyone seems to switch on and start closing down the ball and harassing the opposition's players until we either get it back, or the opposition go back over that imaginary line away from our goal. It's great to see.

Takes a big man to stand up and say you may have got it wrong! People on here are too quick to slag something or someone off and although I think you could have chose your words better, your point is a extremeley good one. Unfortunately I don't think you'll be one of many to hold your hands up an say Megson is started to win me round and long may he keep doin it! The thing with Megson is he is honest an his positives are far out weighing his negatives! He's made us hard to beat and is starting to get the best out of madine! Not to mention he has been EXTREMELY shrewd in the transfer market. I've not been impressed as much by one player ever to have signed at s6 then I have semedo! The man could become a legend here! Utah Owl
I've said this before on other threads but Megson's tactics are bang on. He has us playing in a way that is very effective and makes us really difficult to beat. It may notbe pretty to watch, but it is effective. That is why the other teams and fans don't like us, because they know they are in for a very hard time against us. At long last we are becoming the team no one wants to play. If teams don't want to play us in the first place and at the very least respect (perhaps even fear) us, then the psychological effects mean that half the battle is already won! Long may it continue. swfctc1
We beat the league leaders and it pains you? Didnt pain me. I rumbleing LOVED it! We needed GM before flippingLaws , WE DEFINETLY NEEDED HIM AFTER HIM ,we ended up with Irvine we got those 2 because we had chairmen that needed to bigger than the manager,so stand up milan for having the balls to employ a manager that is here for the good of the club not to suck up to the chairman.
