Pre Season Kids

Do we think the youngsters training with and playing in the first team could become genuine options from the bench throughout the season? 

 

Jack Stobbs in particular looking sharp and full of energy and ready for a shot in the team, could offer something different late on in a game.

Wondering this myself, seem more involved this pre-season.

There's an interview somewhere and CC says it's not about age, it's about quality. He points to the fact we played Wildsmith last season as an example. 

 

In a previous one he said they're making up the numbers as we haven't got a full squad yet.

 

So it's anyone's guess.

Stobbs looked good last preseason too but got injured.

Jack Lee and Hirst only 17 and in effect still second year scholars.Signed pro early because of their good progress.Make or break year for Stobbs.Only got a one year contract in the summer so really needs to be pushing for the first team this season.Sean Clare who we got from the Nike Academy may be the one. Older at 20, he went on loan last year at Bury for a while.

Making the numbers up due to look of signings could be a fair point.  Last year Meadows, De Havilland and Croasdale were part of pre season but didn't play at all in the first team throughout the campaign and got released at the end of the season.

I'd say stobbs and Clare must be knocking on the door. It would be good to see them involved too. 

 

This really is an important season for both of them as they need first team football, whether that is with us or an fairly long loans with L1/2 clubs. Personally I'd keep stobbs here and push him up as a squad player. 

 

The others need a lot more time to develop and has been mentioned they are not ready for first team football yet.

They have been giving an opportunity and it is now up to them to take it if they are ready and good enough. They are clearly good enough to be given this chance. I wish them luck

A decent early draw in the league cup against lower league opponents and i'd hope these kids will figure and give the manager food for thought. If they don't I can't see them getting much of a look in this season tbf.
