Out of JJ's 5 goals this season it's fair to say that they have all been of a high quality.

Yeovil (Away)

Bristol Rovers(Home)

Hereford (Home)

Peterborough (Away)

Exeter (Home)

Others that spring to mind include:

Stoke (Away) a few years back and;

Cardiff (Home) on the last day a couple of years ago

In my opinion, despite his inconsistency, these moments of quality alone should mean that he deserves a new contract. The goals he has scored this season show glimpses of a much better player than he sometimes shows and lets be honest, if he scored these kind of goals week in week out he wouldn't be playing for a League one team.

Thanks for the input, but did this need another thread? Couldn't it have gone in the original JJ one?

Think the 5 goals this season says it all, would rarther have him get 15 tap ins if im honest.

Oh my mistake, didn't see the other thread.

Regardless, he deserves another contract on the basis that he can produce moments of brilliance which none of our other players can.

Come on then Capello, for what we probably pay JJ who would you fetch in instead? I reckon he's on £5k per week.

And I'd like a similar player in terms of pace, goals scored, goals created and preferably on a free transfer, as JJ is already with us. And one who can play upfront or wide, and excites the crowd.

Over to you.

Do you just go around making sure that people post in the right threads?

Yeah, everybody gets that you don't rate him, thankfully you don't hand the new contracts out.

Nor do i accept the ability to run at pace and get the odd shot on target as the mark of being a good footballer, dont remember Willie Henderson or Brian Marwood to name just two as being blessed with outstanding pace, but got me out of my seat more time during a game than JJ does, and invariably their final pass cross or shot had a more desireable result than row z.

Leeds away was his best goal by a mile......a few seasons back.....

Said that yesterday when someone who sits behind me said yesterdays goal was his best. Shame it wasn't at the away end - I remember Brunt scoring from his own half too.

Incidently I find it interesting when people say Johnson doesn't have an 'end product' despite the fact that the majority of our attacking moves starts or ends with him. Whatever his 'end product' is I am very happy with it and I feel Johnson will be remembered as a Wednesday player for much longer than many other players who might have had more skill than him.

Definately a new contract.

If you think we can sign a player of equivalent ability, for the same wage as we pay JJ, on a freebie, then I would love to hear the name of said player.

You could argue it was JJ's fault we lost as numerous times in the 1st half he has a chance to just square the ball to Mellor / Madine to allow that second goal, but tried to take on the entire defense instead.

Putting the match well out of reach of city,

I'd like to say "No, his wonder goals don't make up for his inability to cross, pass and shoot accurately most of the time"

But on Saturday he was just about the only person showing energy to get forward, scored a brilliant goal and looked like he wanted to prove something.

Hope that energy doesn't dissipate if he gets his new contract.
