I agree. What they used to earn is irrelevant. Nobody at a high level wants them so make them an offer that suits us. If they want to be in the shop window it's better to be playing than sat on their backsides.

 

Good players can still help a sise like us even if they aren't fully fit. Bring them on for 15 minutes and then more each game. Sometimes it's just their unpredictability that puts the opposition on the back foot.

They are free agents currently for a reason. The majority being cash mercenaries and injury plagued. Ramires went to China from Chelsea when he was in his prime. He’d probably want in a week what the rest of our first 11 would be on combined.

How many of these free agent have play football in the last 6 months as Daniel Sturridge is also a free agent but has barely played since last June. They are all in their 30's and would struggle to play 2 games in a week let alone 8 in 26 days.

 

This is the problem with the free market at the moment most of them have not played for at least 6 months, those that have played such as Costa have played just 7 games all season. 

 

IF  we had signed played at the beginning of January when we had few games we could have had 3 or 4 weeks to get the match fit but now we need match ready players or it just a waste of money that we don't have.

Sturridge or Costa could turn up here having not trained for months and still be our best player by some distance.

 

They wouldn’t be interested in coming here though. People saying they don’t have clubs because nobody else wants them therefore they might as well play here on little money are wide of the mark. Some of those names would rather retire than play at our level for 10 grand a week
