Hat tricks

Recommended Posts

Hirst gets extra marks for scoring two deluxe hat-tricks. 5 against Hull (he was credited with 4, but the Williams 'goal' was going wide until it hit him, and I think he may even have scored a penalty on top of the 3 in open play against Barnsley (all I know is we lost 4-2 on pens and Sheridan and McCall missed, presumably Hirst took one of the 2 that went in).

Im finding it hard to fathom us actually scoring 3 in a game as a team, never mind an individual. If it wasnt for the 98/99 season review I just watched, I'd have honestly thought it was an annual honour for us.

Q). who was our last hat-trick scorer, before that prolific lad got 3 at Forest? I cant remember 1 for a while.

Even in the 80s I don't recall too many. Off the top of my head without looking up Walker got one at Stockport (actually at Maine Road), Shutt at home to Birmingham, Varadi got a couple already mentioned in this thread, Blair's famous 3 penalties v Luton, Andy McCulloch at home to Cambridge in one of my earliest games, I can't think of any more. Andy Mac got one v Rotherham but not sure if it was in the 80s, it was before I started going in 81. Nearly saw one in my first ever game, TC scored 2 v Oldham but then missed a penalty.
