Owls2k
Being on top of a game whilst behind doesn't cut it I'm afraid. Our home game against Birmingham was possibly the most one sided match at Hillsborough this season but we got the first goal (which was actually deserved) and then hung on for dear life a la Reading last night, the damage was done by the horrendous start. Barnwood62
Could easily see our problem in the first half, getting outplayed in the midfield needed a change after 15 mins, when we did in the second half it was a lot better , as everybody else has said " no plan B
Holmowl
Thought this was a thread about Irving Mattress, ex Newcastle player. (I know it was Nattress but my pun doesn't work)
A57Lincsowl
The stats and highlights don’t show the game for what it was. For 70ish minutes, we played some slow lethargic football, lacked tempo and movement and never looked like winning the game. Remember, all those chances in the last 10 minutes were chasing a draw! It been like this for most of the season with the odd last minute winner to blind us into thinking that we watched an amazing performance. For much of the Reading game, we passed sideways and backwards more than we did forwards. Reading did a job on us but we haven’t found a way to break down teams that ‘park the bus’. The Brentford and Burton games were must wins. In a matter of a few weeks we have lost a 7 point cushion. I’m not sure CC can motivate and sort this out during the international break. Will our injured players recover (Has FF been to see a specialist?) or is the hope of return be a false hope? A loss is often labelled as a ‘blip in form’, sadly the 5-1 win against Norwich was our ‘blip in current form’!

People were moaning last year that we didn't beat any of the top six (Brighton excepted in the play offs). Wonder why??? This mythical rampaging style that allowed MK Dons to stifle us last year in the same way Reading did last night, not to mention Rotherham and whoever else along the way. Everyone obviously (in a perfect world) wants very single pass to go forward. Unfortunately, teams like Reading and Burton don't particularly want to allow us to do this (spoilsports), so sometimes it boils down to either losing possession (as in the old days), or passing it 'sideways' or God help us 'backwards'. This is how teams play, this is how Premiership teams play, this is how Middlesborough played last year, this is how the majority of teams in contention play. If we are struggling, it isn't because we 'keep possession', its because on occasions we don't break at speed and play with a higher tempo when we have the opportunity. Wonder if the reading fans are moaning about passing it backwards & sideways, especially as we had about three times the possession, three times the shots on goal etc etc. Not quite sure whether we should be playing 'win at all costs' as per one poster, or playing the fluid football that saw us scrape into the playoffs last year as per another? Either way, one camp won't be happy and will be shouting for the manager's head (whoever it happens to be).
mcbramall
Guys, guys!!! Just believe. Positive noises will WIN the day. Inspite of differing views on tactics and performance, the one thing we all have is passion for the Wednesday! No negativity please, this will do nothing. Up the OWLS!!! Positive praise and encouragement whatever we play like - we all need to stand, sing, shout wave the flag, scarf, for the rest of the season. We can do it! WAWAW!!!!
