How about Tony McMahon?

So are we really.

Kirkland and Gardner.

True but right now we have three good keepers and a plethora of Centre halves good enough at Championship level. I think Kirkland could prove a lot of people wrong, and Gardner would not be expected to be an ever present, even if he was able to be.

This has annoyed me.

We took so much stick of them for 'not paying our debts' - and yet they're £50m+ in debt themselves.

Every penny they spend is a penny they could be paying back their debts.

They also have to put up with the Financial fair play rule that has come in.

So how have they been allowed to buy ANY players, let alone those with a decent pedigree?

Wasn't ours external debt and theirs internal debt? If Co-Op was our main creditor and McCabe's theirs, it's a bit different.

Well, no it is different. Wednesday were holding station at "around" 30 million debt for many a year. United have been going down the sh1tter to the tune of around £10-18m per year since they left the Premsier League. Wednesday were servicing the debt but because of internal squabbles chose to gamble on not paying HMRC to force Mandaric's hand into buying in,

United have had to lose all their assets and rent them back, because they are in so much debt they are not in a position where anyone would now wish to buy them out.

Two totally different situations, one team being more in the mire then the other ever truly was, despite apparently being "hours" away from liquidation.

To be fair they've both got pretty bad injury records.

Miller's not even on par with any of our signings.

The point I'm making is, where's the exposure to the debt? Is one of McCabe's companies the main creditor? If so, gambling on their financial future isn't really unethical.

Assets and club are separated. McCabe will gain all the money owed back now because of rent every year, year on year (or Scarborough holdings will ultimately recoup the debt etc) within 10-20 years now.

If club and Assets had remained together then McCabe would never have got back what he was owed - ever.

What Utd are now doing is signing players within their means finally. What that means is no more will Sheffield United pretend they are anything close to the potential of Sheffield Wednesday by artificially inflating things like attendences with freebies, signing players they cannot realistically afford etc. You talk of exposure? The wool really has been pulled over many people's eyes for many many years. The next 2 years will prove very enlightening. Especially when the next couple of published accounts are scrutinised.

Yeah Quinn is one that must be on big money. As gurujuan says, so much of their big wage bill was taken up by average players.

No sign of Quinn leaving though? Cresswell must be on good money and montgomery too.

Quinn will be a loss if he goes, but McDonald re sigining is big news for them. He must be injured because it seemed nailed on that hed leave.

Yeah but I would call them crocks !

Gardner played 30 games at championship level last year ! Crocks don't do that !

Just like Gardner and Kirkland for us, great signing for them, IF he stays fit. Injury record is pretty much just as bad.

Surprised they've given two of their biggest contracts to players who are very unlikely to play full seasons or even close to full seasons (McMahon and McDonald).

Think Blunts, Cherries, County, Swindon, MK, Coventry all look about as strong as each other at the moment. Won't be any runaways in that division next year IMO.

Had iether signed for us you would have put an extra spoon of strawberry powder in your Milk Shake !
