BIG D
http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/barnsley/beaten_owls_boss_looks_at_the_positives_1_3618227?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed has said hello to defender Danny Baath and goodbye to striker Padraig Amond as well as trying to land two players from Premier League clubs. The Sheffield Wednesday manager last night welcomed the arrival of Baath on loan from Wolves until January and revealed that he will not be signing Amond, the trailist who played in last night’s 2-0 defeat at Barnsley. Megson also disclosed that the Owls are trying to sign a fringe player from a top flight club and are attempting to sign on loan another player with a Premier League outfit. He said: “Obviously when you are going for players who are Premier clubs, there is a great deal of competition.” On Baath, Megson said: “Last season he gave us steadiness. He’s strong and he and Rob Jones had a decent partnership. “He wants to do well and improve. He has the potential to get better and we can give him the platform to do that.” Amond has featured in recent friendlies but the Owls boss said: “It was difficult; he was chucked in against a decent side. We won’t be offering him anything. He is a great lad and I hope somebody else will give him the opportunity. I have to do what is right for the club. We are going to bring players in, in that (forward) position but they have to be the right ones.” Megson, who fielded a below strength side at Oakwell, said: “It was a disappointing result but a terrific game for us and the young right back (debut-making Matt Tumility) did ever so well. Probably our team on August 6 will show about seven changes. We did some decent stuff but when Barnsley had their really strong team at the beginning they looked impressive.” Edited July 27, 2011 by BIG D

Bluesteel
Looking at the line up I'm not really surprised we lost. A few players playing out of position, young debuts and Prutton missing. Shows how threadbare our squad is as Megson the other day was saying he mainly wanted to play his first 11 through the friendlies.
