M. Morrison & Reynolds

MOTHERWELL defender Mark Reynolds has admitted for the FIrst time he would relish a move to Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.

The 22-year-old has just over a year left on his Fir Park deal and the Eredivisie side have sent scouts to spy on him.

Newcastle and Coventry have also been linked with Reynolds - who missed out on a £1million switch to Rangers two years ago.

The talented stopper wants Well to be repaid for nurturing him through their youth ranks - and that means he would have to move this summer.

Clubs could make their move at the end of the season and Reynolds admits he would love to seal a shock switch to Holland.

The former Scotland Under-21 star said: "To be told PSV are tracking me is a massive honour. You hear about them playing in the Champions League and their style of football is technical. Some of their players have turned out to be greats.

"I'm not a big centre-back who just wants to head balls clear. I like to play and use my speed.

"That's the way a continental stopper operates so where better than Holland to further my career? "My contract is up next summer and I'll be 24 when it runs out.

"I've always wanted Motherwell to get some money for me. They are the club that brought me up and gave me a chance.

"They've been great for my career and I've always hoped we would part on good terms.

"It's important I don't go for nothing. I signed a long deal in the hope that if I was playing well Motherwell would get money.

"I've done everything I've wanted to here - apart from maybe playing in a cup nal.

"We nished third two seasons ago and I've played in Europe. I've loved my time here.

"But as a player and a person the time is coming to move on.

"If it gets to the last six months of my contract other clubs will know they won't have to pay that much to snap me up.

"They could even hold on until the summer to get me for free and that would be a shame.

"So if Motherwell are going to get cash it will probably need to be at the end of the season.

"I'm lucky because I have family, friends and team-mates who don't let me get too far ahead of myself or believe my own hype.

"They can easily bring me down a peg or two.

"In the dressing-room the boys are giving me plenty of friendly banter - they've asked if I've started learning Dutch.

"There has been the odd wee jibe here and there but nothing too bad thankfully."

Reynolds was on holiday when Rangers tried to snare him in 2008 before a £1m bid was rejected by Well chairman John Boyle.

After a dip in form the stopper is now excelling under new Fir Park gaffer Craig Brown and looks certain to take his game on to a new level.

The youngster insists the collapse of the Ibrox switch didn't affect his performances.

And he always felt a similar move would come his way if he kept working on his game.

Reynolds said: "The Rangers interest was a bigger a deal to everyone else than me.

"I was out of the country at the time and when I came back it had washed over.

"It was back-page news but I wasn't around to see the enormity of it - that was a bonus.

"It never crossed my mind that it was a missed chance.

"I thought if I kept playing at my best the right move would come along eventually."

Reynolds has it, he needs confidence and the correct guidance tho, he's young and has ALOT to learn. Players dont get linked to the likes of Rangers, Newcastle and Coventry without having something there to show it. As someone else said on here, he was thrown into an ever changing back 4 week in week out when he first arrived, fans expect instant success which quite simply does not happen, especially the sh!t we have been through this season. Pre season will make or break him

if Morrison was any good Leicster would have never let him go

The impression I got from their fans was that they didn't want him to leave, which is a pretty good sign considering they're almost certainly aiming for promotion to the Premiership next season.

I've noticed on a lot of the "who should we keep/sell" threads these two names keep getting mention as people we should release but I'm not so sure. I was really happy when we signed them both as they both had pedigree, were the right age and were brought for proper fees over competition from other clubs.

Now I know neither has exactly lived up to expectations but they were both thrown into a completely new back four in a team that had zero confidence and both were played out of position (both see themselves as CBs but have more often been played at FB) - so its no wonder they had bad form. But with the team winning again and a full pre-season of Megson coaching under their belt I'm sure they could have a role to play for next season.

What do others think?

Like i said in another thread.....against plymouth at home ,i said on the way out to the bench that they wernt fit to wear the shirt.

Morrisison said flip of tw*t to me.

Hasnt been seen on the bench since.

whether thats coincidence or not is down to speculation.

Hes an arrogant tw>t who hasnt been here 2 minutes.

Good ridance i say.

Agreed, it's frustrating reading some peoples conclusions about Reynolds as he's been played out of position while he's been here.

I would like to see him stay at the club as a center half but Megson obviously likes big lads to play that role. As we've all seen he is DEFINTELY not a left back. Shame really as he obviously has potential and the price we got him for was an absolute steal compared to what was being offered for him (and being rejected) previously.

As for Morrison we have seen a lot more of him than Reynolds and apart from a couple of performances he's been pretty poor tbh, but again he was being judged in a defence that was thrown together mid-season which everyone had high expectations for. I'd like to see him given another chance aswell.

The problem they have now (which is not a bad thing for us) is the defence is playing well together. The return of Buxton and Otsemobor has been massive for us imo, and the addition of Baath and Jones doesn't really leave an opportuntity for either of them. Not to mention R@da playing well. Having said that now we're safe it's a good opportunity to give them a run out and see where they're at like we did with D.Jones and Potter on Monday. Shame there is only 2 games left.

if wednesday had parted with tommy spurr at the end of last season, there would have been some wednesday supporters on his new club's websites telling them what a good, or great player they had...and he could play at centre back...
