Wanted, One Multi Billionaire Owner

Recommended Posts

Please note.  Under FFP rules in the Championship clubs cannot make a loss of more than £8million in a season.  If they do they face a fine or a points docking.  So even if Bill Gates took over he wouldn't be able to plow billions into the team.  Unless we're going to suddenly sell another 10k season tickets, or sell sponsorship naming of the stadium for a MASSIVE amount of money we ain't gonna be able to buy our way out of the Championship anytime soon.

Yes he would. He could sponsor us for say £200M. Which means we would have £207,999,999.99 to play with before points deductions.

What if the billionaire sponsered the stadium. How about the Apple Ipad Hillsborough stadium :milan: .

FFS no. The ground would then be full of sheep, constantly following each other, who would bleat on about how nice the stadium looks without the first clue what it was used for.

With corporate and off the field operations that do not stand parity with even most teams in the championship...

This is the real issue. Fan base and prestige can only take you so far, most investors are interested in cold hard cash and how they can make a return .... rightly or wrongly.

Why is it, Do you honestly think Man City or Chelsea would be anywhere near the teams they are today without multi billionaire owners, of cause not.Man City would be lucky to be even in the prem to be fair.

The trouble is people have been used to 20 years of dross and have lost our vision and ambition. It speaks volumes when treading water in this division is classed as success.

Are you illiterate by choice or stupidity?

I can make plenty of valid arguments.

Whilst the utopia of having a sugar daddy hero coming in seems to be great there are many factors of which we should be skeptical.

As for your assertion that we could be top 5 in the PL, based on what?

Not the same though, City were a borderline top half premier league side anyway, and thus were able to attract and sell themelves to the big star names like Robinho because they could offer the wages, but were also in a position to back it up, I know you're not suggesting we sign Robinho but we're a relegation scrapper in the championship, its not easy to simply buy it like that, look at Leicester, spent millions and got nowhere so far

City also have the Man United factor ( stay away fans suddenly show up because City can finally emerge from the shadow ) it also makes the rivalry a more internationaly marketable one, all of a sudden the whole club becomes much more attractive.

I get what you're saying and there is some credence to it, but City aren't the best model to base us on imo
