What might have been if we were average and not crap!

We have lost well over 20 points from winning positions with plenty of them happening in injury time, if we had converted just half of them we would be sat comfortably in the playoffs.

A lot of teams could say if we had done this, if we hadn't done that, etc etc

 

Part of being a successful team is getting things like that right, and playing well until the final whistle.

 

We just simply are not good enough to be in the top 6, nowhere near. Our position in the table is not an anomaly.

Fully agree, was just pointing out that we have they ability to get in front just not the mental toughness & stamina to see it through.

*this is not aimed at you, just this sentence got me thinking. 
 

The number of people who say that the table doesn’t lie we are where we deserve to be, who then go on to say we were in a false position in 3rd at Christmas. 
 

How does that work? At what point in the season does the table stop lying? Or is it just when we’re near the top it lies?

Just imagine if we had strung a few more wins together since Christmas and not been 2nd from bottom of the form table. To only be 9 points off the play offs after that is crazy. Oh what could have been.

If we had anything like good from Christmas we could have taken a 12 point hit and still made the playoffs.

No worries mate.. and to answer I would just say that we deserved to be where we were at Christmas because we were doing what was needed to win games, and were actually playing fairly well overall. But there is only one table that matters, and that is the one after 46 games. I know it's a cliche to say that, but it's true. It's no use playing well, and getting the basics right for 20 games.

 

The great teams keep it up, regardless of what else is happening, especially in this league. The Championship is an absolute slog, and those who go up normally find a way to get results even when performance levels drop off, which is something we can't seem to do.

 

That being said, the off field pantomime at Wednesday would make it difficult for most players and managers.
