Harder than we think

As the results keep showing us, this league is much harder than a lot of people give it credit. I am in no way defending last night performance as it was poor but it looks like most other teams are having the same inconsistency problems as us.

As for the Carlos situation I personally think that he should be in charge until at least the end of the season, but if we don't get promoted then I think he'll struggle to keep his job as Chansiri and the fans will demand a much better return for their hard earned cash. I can't believe that I'm actually saying this, as the football that we played last season was so exiting and so far from anything that we've witnessed for years that I wouldn't have had a bad word said against him.  This season has been miles away from that and even though we've been in and around the top six all season the football hasn't exited us the same.

I'm by no means a 'happy clapper', but I am an optimist. Hopefully the international break will do us a favour and give us chance to get some first team players back in the starting 11 as the 11 that started last night didn't have what we need for the big push ahead.

No its much much easier the cognescenti on here told me so after the Burton game

This is in spite of every pundit agreeing that its possibly the toughest Championship ever

Its shown in the results Weekend after Weekend yet a few who turned/ Turn out for the Dog and Duck of a Sunday know better

Shots               Owls 22 Reading 10

On target         Owls   9 Reading   4 take away the second goal then its 3

Corners           Owls 11 Reading   3

As far as getting behind them I can't say but I dare say you can't either, because neither of us kept stats whilst watching. But I do know that Reach put in a number of quality crosses from the left and we got to the bye line quite often on the right too.

I don't think we anywhere near battered Reading ( you can prove anything with stats -------- sometimes even the truth tho not often ) but it was nowhere near a dreadful performance either, we were incredibly sloppy at times and they were very disciplined and extremely quick on the break add in a brilliant performance from Al'Habsi and you end up with a very frustrating night

Yeah battered is over egging it somewhat. I guess what I am trying to say is that the despondency evident in many posts on here is not a true reflection either.

I think its the Owlstalkitis striking on here after every game deemed not to be scintillating theres a refusal to acknowledge that anything went right and that everything is wrong and has been all season

We may have "battered" them for the last 15 minutes, but that was just by throwing long balls into the box and as a result we had a string of corners which to be fair resulted in a few dangerous crosses.  However, for the most part Reading outplayed our midfield and whilst they didn't create much (and didn't need to after they scored), they did look more effective, better organised and played as if they had a plan.  Wednesday looked almost as if the team had only been introduced to each other half an hour before the game.

If (and it's a big "if" in my view), we are to finish in the play-offs, the pace at which we play needs to be increased and there needs to be much more movement from the midfield to create chances.  Certainly the slow build up that has been the norm this season is not going to win the play-offs even if we do stay in 6th position by default of other teams playing even worse than we are doing.  I just hope that the two week break will enable CC to come up with more effective attacking play and that some of the injured players are available for the next few matches.

It's all to do with management and recruitment

How have Brighton done with the added expectation this year? Oh yeah they identified their weaknesses, addressed them (for a fraction of the money we've spent) and f*****g smashed it this season

Brighton has been building a solid infrastructure for years before last season. Everything is shiny and new and built from the ground up and its took time. We have been rotten from the inside out for years. It takes time to build that ability to "smash it". One season of decent football really has gotten to some peoples heads.

Brighton were a surprise package last season, just as we were

They fell at the final hurdle last year just as we did

What they did in the summer is identify their weaknesses and they addressed them, something we haven't done despite spending £22m on players

Infastructures have nothing to do with this seasons poor showing, the resources have been provided by DC, we have spent more than anyone without parachute payments, and it's not been spent wisely

Said it all along, I think it's more competitive and exciting than the PL. It's more like football I remember back in the late 70s/80s. The media automatically assume the PL is the best league

That's Sky for you.:columbo:

Brighton finished 7 places below us in Stuart Gray's last season! That was May 2015.

Where you complaining when we signed these players? Show me some posts where you said thats a bad signing when they announced it. If your basing this on hindsight.. well
