HILLSBOROUGH - THE ULTIMATE SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY GROUND PHOTO THREAD

Recommended Posts

Has anybody got a picture of the North stand pre 1961 and in 1961 when it was being built. I remember standing on the rubble with my dad in 1961 watching wednesday beat spurs 2-1. It was the first game spurs had lost in the season. No. 19 or 20 i think. We were second. Health and safety would go bananas now.

Always upsets me seeing this. Tearing down the covered standing to replace it with the monstrosity we have now.

Thanks owlstalk. That looks like the rubble we were standing on in almost the spot where the guy is walking. Brings back lovely memories of going to Hillsborough with my dad. Sadly he passed away many years ago. I am 68 and have great memories of the old times at Hillsborough

The ground gets enough criticism now with what i think is one of the best looking stands in football. It was the first cantilever stand in Europe at the time i think. Would you rather have a Bournemouth style ground. Dont know how they get away with it in the premiership.
