Midfield we still have the same problem as last year and its not been addressed at all. We need to keep it tight at the back and have a chance of winning games 1-0 like we did towards the end of last season. Semedo used to play right back for Charlton and has played there before in his career, imo he would be much better defensively than young Palmer. FlyingOwl Posted August 6, 2013 Share Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) Difficult one with Palmer. Can't criticise the lad, he's clearly doing his absolute best. We know he's not a right back..or even a right winger, and we know his potential is sky high in terms of being a quality CM. It's gonna kill his confidence keeping him at RB....but do we really have another choice? Never seen Semedo at RB so haven't a clue how he'd do being chucked in vs Burnley, probably lining up against a very tricky winger in Junior Stanislas, or someone who's deadly from crosses like Ross Wallace/Keith Treacy. As for Floro, he's clearly a development squad player who's not ready for the first team, but clearly DJ's hand was forced in giving him a squad number because we have no one else. Ideally we don't want to remove Helan from the wing because of the threat he holds there...and we're still trying to develop his game there. Obviously DJ is in a better position to judge than us. It's just a very difficult situation. And like DJ said...we couldn't of prepared for four full backs being ruled out for a number of weeks, or months in Lee's case.
