Worksop Wednesday
....and this time it's not Jay - wander why ?? Zaha will want to do better than Cardiff striker Bothroyd, who has not featured after winning a single cap against France in November 2010. Bothroyd's call-up was the first for a Football League player since striker David Nugent in 2007.

Guest Foxhill Owl
agree but his price tag of £20 Million is ridiculous. That's what burnley stated they want for Austin , wich is all ridiculous , so was the Rhodes tranfer . But some daft club will match it

Guest mcduk
That's what burnley stated they want for Austin , wich is all ridiculous , so was the Rhodes tranfer . But some daft club will match it You have to pay top money for good goalscorers. Rhodes and Austins records are fantastic........ Rhodes = 105 goals in 194 games and Austin 177 goals in 255 games. Everyone thinks Jermaine beckford was a one team wonder, the guys record is very good, He got 10 for Everton in the prem and 15 for leicester last season and 3 in 6 for hudds this year, What we'd give for a striker to score 1 goal in every 2 games at the moment. (Gary Madine 47 goals in 178 apps). I know stats usually mean nothing but when it comes to scoring goals the stats don't lie. mattitheowl
agree but his price tag of £20 Million is ridiculous. Why is it? He probably has a long contract and you would have to spend a packet to replace him. If anything it just says they don't want to sell him unless they get big money. It is all about supply and demand. If teams want him bad enough they will have to stump up the cash to take him away. Just not bothered...
Guest mcduk
am just saying he's not worth £20 Million dawg If a team has £20 million to spend and they signed Austin, he went on to score 25-30 goals in a season for them and they got promoted to the prem........would he be then worth £20 million. Was Rooney worth £25 million after 2 seasons with Everton and 15 goals??? Is he worth £25 million now?? If Austin could score 20 goals a season for Arsenal in the prem on a regular basis he'd be a snip at £20 million, if they don't take a chance they'll never find out. Ronnie Starling
While we are on the subject of international players does anyone know why Barkley isnt in the England U21s?
Guest mcduk
Of course a player is worth £20 million to a team if he produces the performances that take their turnover from £30 million to £100 million. Leeds new owners come in and spend £20 million on Austin, he scores 30 goals and they get promoted to the prem, their turnover goes from £35 million to £100 million+ then of course he would be worth £20 million whether he's come from the championship or the evo stick league. Just because he plays in the championship now does not mean he is a championship player!! Remember its a business. Was Alan Shearer worth a british transfer record £3.3 million at 22 years old in 1992 with a record of 23 goals in 120 games for southampton??? £20 million would be no where near a british transfer record. Ronnie Starling
there's no way a championship player is worth 20 million. end of really. england u21s are really strong in CM so no real surprise. only a matter of time though if he carries on. Do you think it may be because they dont think he is good enough?

heppers
am just saying he's not worth £20 Million dawg He signed a 5 year deal with Palace. That is what he is worth to them. If nobody wants to pay it then he will stay at Palace. Sounds like a well run football club to me. Dougie F was asking for a longer contract and more money without having proven anything. Palace refused and asked him to prove himself so he left for Bolton. Palace replace him with Holloway. Genius move. Remember Palace were in a similar situation to us financially. The major difference is their youth policy ( No I don't mean "No Hoodies")
