Buxton expects 'A lively affair' on Friday night vs Leeds United

Recommended Posts

Owls defender Lewis Buxton is expecting a lively affair on Friday as Wednesday face Leeds at Hillsborough in front of the Sky Sports Cameras.

The local derby will be Wednesday’s biggest attendance of the season at Hillsborough, with ticket sales already surpassing the attendance for the Bolton game, which pulled in a crowd of 26,598.

And having experienced the Hillsborough roar in previous derby encounters, Buxton knows how key the fans will be on Friday.

He told swfc.co.uk: “It’s a big game for us, it’s a derby and it will be a fantastic atmosphere.

“Hopefully our fans will give us a lift and our performance in turn can lift them also.

“The last seven or eight games have been tough but we need to turn it around sooner rather than later and this would be the perfect game to do that.”

The former Stoke man made his return to the side last time out against Hull after recovering from a hamstring injury.

And Buxton is now keen to play as many games as possible and help Wednesday to start climbing the Championship league table.

He added: “We can’t think about the games that have gone, all we can do now is go out on the pitch and win the next game.

“It’s a derby, it’s at Hillsborough, it’s in front of a big crowd so let’s focus on getting a result rather than focusing on the results we have got lately.”

So about 27k sold for the match already, therefore a fair chance of getting 30k in. It's always a special atmosphere when we crack 30k for a match; can't wait, I have a similar feeling to this than the Pigs game last season. We win this, we may just push on.

Totally agree!! Literally cannot wait... Come on wednsday!!
