How far have we come....?

Recommended Posts

Given the complaints about how many more players we need, might be worth reflecting?

Played Walsall in last match before Milan bought in

Team was

Starting Line-ups

1 Weaver

15 Beevers

11 Jones

4 Purse

2 Spurr

14 Potter

8 Miller

21 Teale

24 Sedgwick

30 Morrison

33 Mellor

Substitutes

9 Heffernan

25 Jameson

5 Hinds

17 O'Connor

7 Tudgay

23 Johnson

29 Palm

So how do we reckon the current squad would do against the lot that beat Walsall 3-0? Not many left, are there...

How i wish we still had players like Gary Teale and Darren Purse.

Now we have flippingMichail Antonio and Anthony Gardner, what happened to our once great club?

We have a very googs league 1 squad but not so sure it's good enough for the championship, we have many players but less of better quality would have been better.

No chance.

Better keeper, stronger defence, Lowe out and Maguire in so a stronger forward line. Only area I think we are possibly weaker is midfield but that is in comparison to the midfield against Wycombe when we had Traecey. Our current team would win league 1 by a country mile.

Defence is weaker as Batth is gone. Kirkland and Gardner will not play 20 games between them.

Maguire was not good enough for a poor Derby side.

Madine don't look good enough for the championship

Our midfield and attack need improvement as do both fullback positions.

Well firstly Maguire played about 5 times for Derby before falling out with Clough. Ask the Pompey what they think of him. Doubt they will tell you he's not good enough. As for saying Madine isn't good enough, what are you basing that on? The lads been injured most of pre season and is yet to start a game against a championship side.

Maguire is no better that Ogrady and Madine spits the dummy when things don't go his way, he has the potential but will need to sort his head. We need a big powerfull striker but they cost serious cash, any points taken before the end of September will be a huge bonus.

I find it fascinating how you feel you can make a full judgement on a player based on a handful of performances.
