phoenixowl
Was too good for rest of players in early seventies, he had a football brain and rest didn't When Wednesday had sold him to Newcastle, Newcastle fans used to thank Wednesday fans at Service Stations etc en route to our respective games for selling him to them. That's how highly they rated him and what a good player he was
Guest BRADFIELDOWLS
Brilliant but should have been more effective for us. If you want an excellent player's view, read Eamon Dunphy's diary , Only a Game ? (by far, best book written by a professional UK footballer). It's gpt several pages on Owls and TC. Best memory of him, asking ref to tell him one 1 min. left in game against Santos at Hillsborough, 1972, so he could shadow Pele then swop shirts with the great one. He did. We had to wag school as game on a Tuesday afternoon as no electricity due to Miner's strike. Great memories.

Great memories. not sure how he could have been more effective than he was ....his scoring record is good for a mid fielder no one can question that his passing was of the highest order that the other 10 wernt good enough to do owt when he gave them the ball was there problem not tommy's ......once he left they just collapsed without him and didnt have a clue how to create a scoring chance never mind score a goal . Guest BRADFIELDOWLS
Then read Dunphy's book for an expert's view, including how they beat us when Millwall were really poor and Tommo looked good but couldn't affect the game for us. Also, contains related views of John Sissons etc and shows the massive gap between supporters' opinions and how footballers read the games. Mid Wicket
He was a good player for us, rumour had it his signing brought about discontent within the dressing room due to the money he was being paid.
Guest BRADFIELDOWLS
See pages 76 -77 of original book on Craig - '' He has great skill, and he is strong. If he wanted to play, if he had the desire and application and courage to go out there and play for 90 minutes , he would be a hell of a player. But he doesn't. He never plays well the whole 90 minutes....even when they do well ....Which tells you a lot about Wednesday" Wow, times change but still relevant to us today. Except FF, who , ok apart from one episode, gives all, and has amazing skill. All excellent today, great defending.
