Boozers/plans for derby on saturday

Recommended Posts

A boozer tweeting that they are the number 1 pub for away fans. The Royal Telegraph, 5 minute walk from the station just across from Marks and Spencer. Says it was rammed last year and that all welcome again.

Straight out of station, cross road, walk towards building site. Walk towards Gala Bingo. Turn left at the main road. It's on the corner just past the garage. Edited by FuthaMucker

Ay up Owls, looking forward to a good atmosphere on Saturday. Just thought I'd offer some useful advice on pubs.

Royal Telegraph is fine for away fans, but it's used by home fans too. The Crown & Cushion on the corner of Midland Road/London Road (straight up from the station main entrance) is away fans only (but is a similar quality to the Navigation). The Station Inn, just before the C&C on Midland Road, accepts both home & away fans and is OK. Next to the Station Inn there's a decent bar/diner called Mansion for those who fancy a proper meal and a decent pint. The Merry Widows opposite the station doesn't always allow in away fans. The Waterfall on the opposite corner is home fans only and the Victoria Inn round the corner from those two seems to be closed on matchdays recently.

The Alexandra and Brunswick Inns are best for those who like their real ales, but might turn away rowdy or large groups.

The Navigation is indeed best for those arriving by car - it's not a great pub, but again is mostly away fans and you can have a sing-song no problem there.

If anyone fancies being a bit closer to the stadium, exiting the station by the rear exit (next to platform 6) and following the signs to Pride Park, there's a Harvester that is used by allot of away fans which is only 5-6 minutes walk from the away section of the ground. They have parking there, so drivers who arrive early might want to check that out instead of the Navvy.

Anyroad, enjoy the day out, but not the game gary megson
