I've been watching these the last few weeks and I  must say the standard of football is terrible, just watched the last one a 3-3 draw between QPR and Ipswich it was really  poor and Ipswich went on to win the FA Cup that year only excuse i could give them was the pitch was in a terrible condition

Easy to isolate a single game and say the whole standard of football is terrible

 

Did you not watch what was supposed to be England's top professionals last Friday night in the shocker against the Aussies or maybe the Man City v Arsenal game where both teams were afraid to attack

Given the state if most pitches at the time, there was a fair degree if skill and speed on display.

 

Plus, you were allowed to tackle

The most striking thing is the amount of space people have and the slower pace. More than anything, fitness levels are off the scale higher these days 

 

How far that makes the game better to watch is perhaps a matter of taste.

Imagine how good some of the more technical players would be with today’s fitness training, protection from referees and playing on pitches like putting greens rather than boiled turds!
