Kirkland Unhappy at Being Back Up 'Keeper

Recommended Posts

Heard and interview on Radio Sheffield this dinner time with Stuart Gray talking about how Kirkland is unhappy at being the back up 'keeper and then went on about him being an excellent professional and goal keeper etc and that he had told Kirkland to keep pushing for a place in the team and doing what he's doing...

Am i just being cynical or does anyone else think this is the start of the lube being squeezed out the tube for us being shafted when we sell Westwood in January?

Yep, you're just being cynical.

Westwood might well go in January, but the notion that Gray's prepping the ground for it by talking up Kirkland's ability so as to make it easier for the fans to swallow is just laughable nonsense.

Besides, Gray was asked a question about Kirkland and he merely answered it. Predictably so too. In fact, he's answered a similar question about Kirkland a few times already this season, and each time he speaks of Kirkland's professionalism and ability.

Gray's biggest concern right now is getting us wins and keeping his job. He's not going to play along with some needless PR stunt about the sale of his most prized asset - an asset without which we'd have surely been at least the four points worse off that would've seen us in the relegation zone.

Selling Westwood is the last thing Gray wants. Whether it'll happen or not in a few months is another matter, mind, and out of his hands.

The selling him in january is not ridiculous no,the having him back on loan is,IMO.

forest need a keeper for next season when darlow goes to newcastle in the summer ,getting westwood for a decent price and then loaning him back to us until they need him sounds perfectly feasable.........we get to keep him a while and forest probably get a bit knocked of the bill .

There is no way Wednesday will hold out for 4 million, we will sell him on the cheap.

We have never done well at selling players, look at the Antonio deal, 1.5 million and a 30% sell on clause to Reading, did we even make a profit on him? For what some players go for it's a ridiculous price.

Said before it will probably be a undisclosed fee and we will have let ourselves get our pants pulled down.

i didnt know there was a sell on clause for antonio.......wonder if we get one if forest sell him .

Definatly lube, but to be fair no sane fan would begrudge Westeood leaving for decent money. Anything less than 3 would be a joke but we should be looking at 4+

Shouldn't let Westwood go unless the fee is very high. I agree with other posts that without Westwood we could be sat in the bottom three. Arguably Westwood has been out biggest contributor to our current points total. Unless we sell for a fee large enough to buy one or two quality outfielders, what would be the point in letting him go?
