18,422 WATCHING RUBBISH THIRD DIVISION FOOTBALL IS VERY IMPRESSIVE.wONDER WHAT THE AVERAGE AWAY SUPPORT IS IN THAT TOTAL HUDDESFIELD BROUGHT PLENTY BUT RECENTLY WE HAVE SEEN 3-400 MOST WEEKS.

Good point -very few local derbies this season. Plus we had the fixtures over the Christmas season called off. Not many special offers either, as far as I can recall.

For a city of nearly 600,000 it is rubbish look at Burnley less than 100,000 population .

Burnley FC got their set up right and gave their one-club town a team to be proud of, the people of the town jumped on the banwaggon and enjoyed their success.

Take a look at what Burnley were averaging the last time they were in the 3rd division.

Try to imagine what their attendances would be like if they had spent 11 consecutive seasons outside the top flight, 3 of them in the 3rd division, finishing in the bottom half of the division for the majority of these 11 seasons.

Don't Burnley have one of the highest per-capita attendance figures in the country?

Anyway, here are some stats. Season, league position, attendance table position.

2010-11, mid-table, 2

2009-10, 22, 6

2008-09, 12, 6

2007-08, 16, 8

2006-07, 9, 4

2005-06, 19, 2

2004-05, 5, 1

2003-04, 16, 1

2002-03, 22, 7

2001-02, 20, 6

2000-01, 17, 4

1999-2000, 19, 14

1998-99, 12, 12

1997-98, 16, 11

1996-97, 7, 11

1995-96, 15, 14

1994-95, 13, 9

1993-94, 7, 8

1992-93, 7, 6

1991-92, 3, 4

1990-91, 3, 1

1989-90, 18, 9

1988-89, 15, 10

1987-88, 11, 9

1986-87, 13, 7

1985-86, 5, 7

1984-85, 8, 6

So in the last 27 seasons our position in the final league table has been higher than our position in the attendances table just 4 times (shown in bold), twice by just 1 place, once by just 2 places, and once by just 4 places. Well done to our fans!

Guest Buxtonian

What the f++k has the size of the City got to do with anything? Wednesday have CONSISTENTLY had a fan base far, far bigger than the city boundary. I know from personal experience that it spreads as far north as Wombwell, Hoyland etc. , as far east as the Mexborough, as far south as Clowne, Creswell etc. and as far west as Buxton. These are the limits in my own experience. I know people who come from further afield. This season alone, there have been coaches regularly from Wombwell, Barlborough and Whitwell. I myself travel from Buxton every week, and I am not alone! If anything, the drop in support has come from within the city boundaries, where, let us be honest, there has been the attraction of a higher league in nearby Barnsley, Doncaster and even Rotherham.

If Wednesday want to attract 20K+ crowds weekly, they've got to provide the attraction of better football. We've even been attracting less than the Pigs. Surely there is a message here somewhere.

At least in 5-10 years when were back in the prem, we will be the lads saying we were there in that awful 10/11 season,.

We can always hold our heads high that we were there through all the poo and that will make us enjoy the good times when they come back around even more !

March On Next Season !
